The Murder

Today, a backup court commissioner set bond at $1 Million for Ranon Brownlee. He is accused of 1st Degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. His girlfriend, Charniese Brown was stabbed multiple times and shot in the back according to the prosecutor. This happened on Monday March 8th, 2021 at approximately 5:20pm. Charniese called 9-1-1 and told dispatchers that “Ranon Brownlee” was killing her. The dispatcher could hear the stabbing, and later a shotgun blast. Brownlee was covered in blood and surrendered to police a short while later. He apparently was screaming “who are you fucking?” several times while he was murdering her. Gabriele told the commissioner she needed two more days to charge him, but the commissioner ordered her to do it by tomorrow, Thursday. At one point Gabriele mentioned that there were “previously unreported domestic abuse allegations”. To put it bluntly, she lied.

Ranon Charged With Beating Charniese 15 Months Ago

On October 25, 2019, Brownlee was charged with severely beating Charniese with extremely similar circumstances. According to the criminal complaint, which you can read below, Brownlee punched Charniese in the face 10 times and continued to beat her in the ribs, back and face. He then attempted to pull Charniese’s pants down and yelled to her “who you been fucking?” Charniese told police she feared for her safety. Police saw Charniese’s face and she had bright red bruising and a blood-clot. Charniese showed police a text message where Brownlee told her to lie about where she got her injuries. About three months later, the Kenosha County District Attorney, under the supervision of Angelina Gabriele (D) did what they do best – they dismissed the charges. Brownlee walked.

Ranon Has 2011 Domestic Battery Charges Dismissed

On July 16, 2011, police say that Brownlee used bear-spray, a more potent form of pepper-spray on his girlfriend (not Charniese) and her 6-month-old child. He accused her of cheating. The ambulance treated the girlfriend and child. He was charged with domestic abuse, and….. you guessed it, the Kenosha County DA’s office dismissed all charges.

Ranon Brownlee (51) of Kenosha Source Kenosha Sheriff

This is a growing trend we are seeing in this community. Michael Graveley (D) and his number two, Angelina Gabriele (D) are a poison to this community. They prioritize political prosecutions, like Kyle Rittenhouse, but let these domestic violence charges slip through the cracks. Of course Gabriele nor Graveley responded to our request for comment, but it’s hard not to put at least some blame on them for being too soft-on-crime. We realize that sometimes victims don’t cooperate with prosecutors, but the state can still get convictions based on written statements and officer testimony. If you want a Judge who lets alleged woman-beaters free, vote for Gabriele. Of course she is personally prosecuting this case, to get her name in the paper. It’s a slam dunk case. The evidence is overwhelming and the defendant admitted to the crime. Where was she when he only beat Charniese? Why does he have to commit murder (allegedly) for the DA to take action? Kenosha is almost at about double the homicides from last year and its only March. Don’t worry though, the Mayor built an $8.5 Million parking garage. That’ll help.

  1. Any defense attorney or investigator worth their salt should know you cannot use just statements to prove a case. Right to Confrontation. Go ask any defense attorney.

    1. Dear Magnum PI: You subpoena the complaining witness, if they don’t show up you put a material warrant out for their arrest. If they lie and say they were not battered then you use their statement to impeach them. Statements can absolutely be used to impeach witnesses’ testimony. if they change their story they’re either committing perjury or they committed obstruction of justice when they lied to the police in the first place.

      1. You both are right. And herein lies the issue and what separates good DA’s from shitty DA’s.

Good DA’s WOULD do everything kenoshacountyeye said in their reply. HOWEVER, that would take a lot more work, time, money, trials, etc. so most DO NOT BOTHER and just dismiss the case or reduce the crime to nothing.

Kenosha County DA’s office has made it pretty clear that their MO is not to push these cases. Heck, a lot of DA offices do the same around the country.

The issue and difference here? When you have TWO people (in the span of 3 weeks) who got off and now have came back and killed their victims. It makes the entire DA’s office look horrible. That entire office should go and Graveley should resign. He has been a laughing-stock in the legal community. He has embarrassed the whole office.

Gabrielle picked a rather inopportune time to run for judge….

  2. Also, after listening to the hearing…..pretty pathetic how Gabriele simply mentioned he had “an ordinance violation for DC” in 2019. She purposely (although it would have helped her case for bail) left out any facts concerning that dismissal (because during an election she obviously doesn’t want the words “he has been accused of this before and we dismissed the case” coming out of her mouth for everyone to hear).

  3. Also, are we missing something here? They reference a 2011 case with this woman and their baby. So she was 17 years old back in 2011 with a child by Brownlee (who would have been 42 or so at the time)?

What am I missing here? The black community wonders why it’s such a mess and 1 in 2 people don’t care.

    1. CCAP says still in custody….just that bond was set, not posted. This guy isn’t going anywhere…..all of his homies together probably couldn’t post a $10k bond.

      1. At one point CCAP did say cash bond posted. It has been removed , as Kenosha county eye stated it was a mistake. And in today’s world you never know who’s raising money to get these losers outta jail. Everyone thinks a protest and donations make things happen. Plus our county supervisors are as bias as they come, and like to play the race card
