Several hours prior to the shooting on July 4, 2022, Martin and Johnson (ATM Gang) attacked a man (SGM Gang) at Regency Mall in Racine. Martin and Johnson posted a Facebook live video threatening additional violence against the Kenosha ATM gang. Currie was on social media asking for handgun ammunition. Johnson was also on social media, looking for a gun. GPS evidence placed all three defendants at the scene of the crime during the shooting.

KCE did not immediately have a street gang translator available to translate the statements, but it is believed to be a threat of gun violence’s. Currie was seen to be the drive of the getaway-vehicle.

Reached for comment Friday afternoon, Kenosha Police Chief Patrick Patton had the following to say about the three arrests:

“In the first week of July of 2022, we saw a sharp increase in shootings that we linked to gang feuds.  On July 4th, 2022, we responded to a shooting that resulted in 5 victims being shot, one of which was killed.  The case was very complicated and had little to no initial suspect information.  Bringing the case to this conclusion showed the perseverance and resiliency of our department and how seriously we take gun violence in our community.  Lead Detective Marty Howard, along with Detectives Brian Wilson and Detective Vinnie Correa, continued to investigate the case despite limited information and cooperation for well over a year.  We partnered with the US Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force and never quit tracking down the suspects until they were taken into custody.  We believe one of the best preventions to gun violence is displaying our dedication to holding those that commit gun violence accountable. We are unwavering in those efforts and in the past 2 weeks we have unfortunately had 3 shootings in our community.  Our patrol and investigation divisions demonstrated the same efforts and the suspects in each one of those shootings was taken into custody within 24 hours. As a community, must continue to express that gun violence will not be tolerated.”

Unfortunately, the three defendants already have been in the criminal justice system and are all felons:

We asked Racine CO DA Patricia Hanson why she dropped the Felon In Possession of a Fireman charges and robbery charges against all three men. She didn’t respond. She is probably dealing with covering up her office leaking search warrants and police reports to gang-bangers to endanger police officers’ safety.

Union, Special Interest Endorsements D.O.A. In Kenosha County: Opinion

Once upon a time in Kenosha County, the union and other special interest endorsements mattered. The UAW was once very powerful and had great influence. Not anymore. When I ran for Alderman in 2012, I got all of the local endorsements – the Police Union, the Fire Union, the AFL-CIO, etc. I won. In 2014, I got all of the same endorsements. I Lost. In my 2016 “rematch,” all of those endorsements went to my opponent.

  1. Why can’t mass shooters ever kill people like these thugs? I say let’s get the rope out for these three…

  5. Excellent news article, KCE. A tragic subject. One line made me laugh out loud, though: “KCE did not immediately have a street gang translator available to translate the statements.”

  6. It was the* She is probably dealing with covering up her office leaking search warrants and police reports to gang-bangers to endanger police officers’ safety* for me

  7. First of all, we should be thankul that these mopes are shooting each other. Let the Hatfields and McCoys fight and the rest of us are fine. A few less mopes speeds up the foodlines, more mopes locked up provides a state employee a job. What I always find funny is that they show up for court in borrowed, non fitting suits with thier hair cut to look like outstanding citizens.

  8. I’m glad they were caught. That young man was a good student and athlete. But of course Kenosha county and it’s massive amounts of racism make us wonder who the real bad guys are.
