Two Kenosha police officers, Jacob Thorpe, and Cody Cox happened to be nearby. Both Officers are new to the department, which itself, is a very young department. Cox joined the department in 2021 and Thorpe, in 2020.

After the officers spotted the minivan, which was now emitting sparks from the rim, he activated the emergency lights and siren, trying to get the 84-year-old Kenosha resident to stop. He didn’t. Kenosha Police think the sparks that were coming from the tire rim ignited the gas in the lines or tank.

The elderly man and both officer sustained minor burns and singed hair, but amazingly, did not require hospitalization.

“This could have been so much worse,” Kenosha Police Lieutenant Joe Nosalik told KCE. “The van did not explode and our selfless officers ran towards the fire to save that man. The man was not intoxicated, nor did he exhibit any overt signs of diminished mental capacity; however, his decisions are questionable and we did refer him to the WI Department of Motor Vehicles for a re-evaluation on his driving abilities. He just wanted to make it home.”

KPD’s officers don’t specifically train for fire rescues, but Nosalik said the selfless officers’ public safety mentality kicked in. “At KPD, we put people first, we are very proud that our officers did just that. This doesn’t just happen in Kenosha. There are countless acts of bravery and heroism performed by police every day and in every State,” Said Nosalik. “KPD is proud to be a part of this profession.”

  1. I don’t trust anyone that’s clean cut with
mustache unless they have a hair lip.

Seems like cops and firefighters are the only ones sporting this pedophile look.

    1. Pure Blood…pedophiles come in ALL shapes, sizes, and looks. So do people who aren’t pedophiles. There are a lot of bad people out there, but there are a lot more GOOD than bad. This is about two police officers helping to save someone’s life. I wouldn’t care WHAT they looked like as they were helping to save my life.

      1. You are right. I’m sorry that was a shallow comment. Kudos to these officers for saving the elderly man. I agree with everything you stated.

        I still don’t like mustaches though 🙂

  2. “we did refer him to the DMV for a re-evaluation of his driving abilities.”

Why would he need a re-evaluation of his driving abilities, he put his blinker on when he was taking a right with his car on fire!!! LOL!!!

  3. Almost looked like back to the future under the bridge.

The old guy was already getting out of the car on his own. Watch the video.

It’s great they pulled him away after he got out but hero status is questionable here.

He would have probably pulled over sooner but had to get to a safe place. Inside the burning vehicle was safer than where he was driving through.
