The Kenosha County S.W.A.T. Team raided the home of a local attorney and former politician, Ted Kmiec last Thursday. Today, KCE has obtained court documents that detail what was found in the home. The documents also detail the investigation into serious drug possession and numerous child sex crimes. On December 19, 2024, Kenosha Sheriff’s Detectives and its S.W.A.T. team conducted an early-hours raid on the home and found a multitude of drugs and paraphernalia throughout the home.

Kenosha County Eye has learned from someone familiar with the inside of the home, that Ted Kmiec’s bedroom is the upstairs bedroom where some drugs were found. The “bedroom on the north side of the living room” is Trenton’s, per the same source. Trenton was arrested, but Ted was not. We asked the Sheriff’s Department why Ted wasn’t arrested but didn’t hear back. We also didn’t hear back from the four District Attorneys that might be handling this case – Kenosha, Walworth, Racine, and Fond du Lac.

Ted Kmiec is a criminal defense attorney and last year, was ousted as a Village of Salem Lakes Trustee by a two to one margin. Ted is allegedly running for Judge in the April, 2025 election. KCE made contact with Ted and asked about the drugs throughout his bedroom and the rest of his home and he had no comment. On March 21, 2022, Ted’s mistress died in his bed from a drug overdose.

Child Sexual Assault Allegations

Last week’s S.W.A.T. raid was sparked by an investigation into serious violence and child sexual assault and child pornography. According to the court documents:

On Sunday 12/15/2024 I, Det. [Redacted] #[Redacted], was contacted by Deputy [Redacted] regarding a case he was working on. He informed me of the following information which was listed in his report:

  • On 12/14/2024 at approximately 2004 hours, Kenosha County Sheriff Department (KSD) Deputies were dispatched to [Redacted] 238th Ave, Salem, WI, for a check welfare call for service. The caller “Christy” [Last Name Redacted] requested Deputies to check the welfare of her friend “Jenni” [Last Name Redacted]. Christy told dispatch that Jenni lied to her (Jenni’s) parents, stating she (Jenni) was at Christy’s house. Christy was not home and believed Jenni was at Trenton B. Kmiec’s house. Christy stated Jenni was 17 years old and Trenton was 24 years old. Christy was worried about Jenni’s welfare due to the history of physical abuse between Jenni and Trenton.
  • On 12/15/2024 at approximately 1715 hours, I, Dep. [Redacted] #[Redacted], was dispatched to the Kenosha County Center, 19600 75th St, Bristol, WI 53104, to meet with Jenni regarding having photos of physical abuse done by Trenton to her. I met Jenni at 1724 hours and we went inside the Kenosha County Center to speak. Jenni was identified verbally. I asked about the incident yesterday 12/14. Jenni told me her friend Christy called because she was worried about her and that Deputies arrived and asked her if she was ok. Jenni told me she responded she was fine and that was it, and Deputies later left. Jenni told me she later left Trenton’s house on her own.
  • Jenni stated that Trenton grabbed her by the neck, at his residence of [Redacted] 238th Ave, and pushed her against the dresser. Jenni stated it was difficult to breathe at that time. Jenni stated Trenton let her go and she tried to walk away. Trenton then grabbed Jenni by the neck again. Jenni stated Trenton then went to push her against the bedroom door and she went through the door. Jenni advised the door broke when she went through it. Jenni told me Trenton also slapped her on the face with an open hand that night.

I would confirm this information with Jenni on 12/17/24 when I would meet with her and her mother at the Public Safety Building. Jenni told me this happened on 11/30/2024. Jenni ultimately showed Deputy [Redacted] pictures she took of bruising from the incident.

Jenni would also admit that her and Trenton were in a relationship, have sexual intercourse, and that Trenton has known that she was 17 years old since she met him at Country Thunder. She stated she told him how old she was when she first met him.

Jenni would inform Deputies and I, when I spoke with her, that she has had sex with Trenton multiple times at his house of [Redacted] 238th Ave and Trenton would record it. She stated he would also send her nude photographs and she would send him nude photographs. Jenni would allow a consent download of her phone and it would be downloaded. While doing a manual search of her phone, I would observe there to be a large amount of fully nude photos of both of them sent between them along with a large number of videos of Trenton and Jenni having sexual intercourse. It was clear Trenton was recording because Jenni’s hands were shown not holding a phone and taken from the other subject’s point of view. Jenni advised me that they did not use protection and that Trenton would also send her the videos of them having sexual intercourse.

When checking the videos and images, I would see they were taken from an iPhone 16 and that they would be labeled at the top “from Trent”. When I would press the information button on the videos or photos, it would show a map location attached with the photo which showed an arrow type bubble at [Redacted] 238th Ave showing it was taken at Trenton’s house.
Jenni stated she slept over 15-17 times at his residence between July and December 2024 and knows that’s where he lives. She also stated that Trenton’s father, Ted Kmiec, and a female would be there and that she told Ted her age of 17. Jenni also said Ted and his female half were there 70% of the time she was at the residence or staying the night.

Jenni was asked about drug use with Trenton and she stated that at Country Thunder he provided her with cocaine. Jenni stated while staying over at Trenton’s house, she would notice a large ball of cocaine in his bedside drawer and that Trenton was taking steroids which he would hide in his jacket pockets in his bedroom closet. She believed Trenton might have been selling cocaine based on texts messages observed on his phone she believed to about selling it.

Jenni also would inform me that Trenton drives a red Jeep Wrangler. This has been seen in the driveway of [Redacted] 238th Ave multiple times.

I would speak with Trenton’s probation officer on 12/17/24. His PO [Probation Officer] would contact him about the check welfare on 12/14/24. Trenton would advise his PO that he was in a relationship with a girl named Jenni. His PO asked him to come in for a meeting on 12/18/24 about the police contact. Trenton did not show. KSD Detectives conducted surveillance on Trenton during this time and his Jeep never left the driveway. Prior to giving Jenni’s phone back after download, I would observe a text from Trenton to her saying, ‘I have a warrant for my arrest.’ Which was dated 12/17/24 at 2:06 PM which was right after his PO contacted him.”

The following charges are expected to be referred to the Kenosha District Attorney, Michael Graveley:

Felony Child Enticement – Sexual Contact
Felony Child Sexual Exploitation – Produce, Perform, ETC

Felony Possession of Child Pornography
Felony Strangulation and Suffocation
Felony Distribution To Persons Under Age 18
Felony Child Abuse – Intentionally Cause Harm
Felony Exposing Genitals/Pubic Area/Intimate Parts To A Child

Felony Possession of Controlled Substance 2nd / Subsequent
Felony Possession of Cocaine 2nd / Subsequent
Felony Possession of Marijuana (THC) 2nd / Subsequent

Felony False Imprisonment
Felony Bail Jumping
Felony Probation Violation
Sexual Contact With A Child Age 16 Or Older
Battery
Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia

Graveley, being friends with Kmiec, is deciding where to send the case to be pleaded down. It is expected to go to Walworth County, Racine County, or Fond Du Lac County, all lead by democrats. None for these four responded to requests for comment.

Again, it is unknown which, if any charges will be referred against Ted. Trenton faces decades in prison if convicted of all charges.

According to the victim, Ted knew that Trenton’s girlfriend was 17-years-old. Ted was also aware of at least two other underage girlfriends of Trenton, per a source. Trenton’s mother, Kmiec also seemingly knew her son was dating a 17-year-old – she follows her on Instagram:

Trenton was recently revived with Narcan twice. Judge Dougvillo only gave Trenton three months of jail for these violations of probation. The State asked for the maximum possible jail sentence. Racine DA Patricia Hanson (D) wouldn’t charge Kmiec for possession of drug paraphernalia or felony bail-jumping.

Trenton would be in prison today, if not for multiple breaks from the Kenosha County DA’s Office, Racine County DA’s office, and several judges. A young child might not have been allegedly harmed physically, sexually, and emotionally.

Kenosha County District Attorney Mike Graveley (D), who is friends with Kmiec’s father Ted, has sent many cases to neighboring Racine County with the expectation that Racine DA Patricia Hanson will take it easy on Kmiec, like so many times before.

Kmiec is on felony bail for a serious incident from November 24, 2021. Police and prosecutors say that Kmiec lead multiple police officers and agencies on a 25 minute long, 22 mile police chase while armed and under the influence of drugs. Kmiec refused to pull over for police and drove erratically at speeds up to 85 miles per hour. He endangered many people’s lives by swerving all over the road and narrowly missing innocent bystanders. At one point he swerved around stop sticks, was rammed by police, did a 360 degree spin, but continued to evade. Eventually, Kmiec flipped the car and crashed in a ditch. Police found a Glock 19 in his possession with an extended 30-round magazine in the car. A drug recognition expert determined that Kmiec was under the influence of stimulants. There were also empty bottles of Cyclobenzaprine and Tramadol in his upside down car. Kmiec also had two Buprenorphine narcotic patches on his body. Kmiec also had a powdery substance on his nostril. Kmiec was charged with (1) Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, (2) Fleeing and Eluding – Causing Damage to Property, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, (3) Felony Criminal Damage to Property, Use of a Dangerous Weapon, (4) Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated, and (5) OWI (2nd). One of the victims told police that Kmiec caused $8,000 in damage to his property. Believe it or not, Governor Evers (D) appointee, Judge Tricia Walker, gave Kmiec a no-cash bond. He was released without having to pay a cent. He is expected to take a plea deal in October.

Kmiec’s Criminal History

OWI #1

Kmiec was driving while intoxicated on June 26, 2017. He was later convicted.

Kenosha County Drug Possession

In 2017, Kmiec was involved in a crime involving drugs. He was arrested. DA Graveley (D) sent this case to Racine County to be “fixed” and progressive Racine County DA Patricia Hanson did not charge Kmiec, but allowed him to participate in a drug program.

Kenosha County Drug Possession #2

On September 2, 2022, police and prosecutors say that Kmiec was pulled over and had schedule 2 narcotics in his vehicle. Kmiec tried to throw the drugs out of his car, but the astute Deputy Tifft reviewed his squad footage and saw Kmiec throw the bag. DA Graveley sent this case to Racine County and DA Patricia Hanson’s office dismissed it.

Winnebago County Drug Trafficking Arrest

Police and prosecutors say that on February 19, 2023, Kmiec was located in a bar by police, which was against his bond conditions. On his person, they found 13 plastic baggies, each contained fentanyl. Police obtained a search warrant for his home. When they arrived, they were met by Kmiec’s high-school aged girlfriend. They found cutting agents and other drug manufacturing items in his bedroom. His minor girlfriend said that she didn’t know he sold drugs, but was “suspicious” of him. She thought he was selling vitamins to people posing as cocaine. Winnebago County prosecutors charged Kmiec with (1) Possession – Intent to Deliver, (2) Maintaining a Drug-Trafficking Place, and (3) Felony Bail Jumping. They could have charged him with multiple counts of bail-jumping, but did not. Believe it or not, a liberal court Commissioner named Eric Heywood gave Kmiec a no-cash bail and he was released without paying a cent. He is awaiting trial for this case.

Domestic Violence

Kmiec was charged in court on May 3, 2023. The charges include felony child abuse – recklessly causing bodily harm, six counts of felony bail jumping, and intimidation of a victim. According to the criminal complaint, Kmiec’s high-school aged girlfriend called the Sheriff’s Department just before midnight on May 1, 2023. She was upset and crying when a deputy arrived. She asked the deputy to drive her down the road so she wasn’t talking in front of the house. She then told him that she and her boyfriend, Trenton Kmiec, had a fight. She said that Kmiec threw her very hard and her head hit something. She had a visible “goose egg” on the right side of her head near her temple. She then tried to call 9-1-1, but Kmiec took the phone away from her, hung it up and said “you’re not doing that.” She then begged for her phone back, but Kmiec called her a “whore” and told her to lay down and sleep or walk home. He then said he hoped she got abducted.

Domestic Violence #2

According to another criminal complaint, on May 26, 2023, deputies responded to Ted and Trenton Kmiec’s residence in Salem. The caller was one of the girl’s friends who heard her and Trenton arguing loudly which he was on the phone with her. He heard her say “ow.” This friend called police and summoned them to the Kmiec residence. The Sheriff’s Deputies are very familiar with this home. Deputies investigated the death of Kmiec’s mistress recently. She died on Ted’s bed. Deputies knocked on the door and Trenton answered the door. He denied that his 17-year old girlfriend was there and denied ever having contact with her. Ted also came to the door and claimed he didn’t know if she was there either and didn’t hear the loud arguing. The girl later exited the home to talk to deputies, and Ted apologized and stated that he was not aware of her presence in the home. Deputies arrested Trenton for obstructing, since he lied to police. Deputies decided against arresting Ted Kmiec. We asked Ted why he would knowingly allow his son to violate conditions of his bond. He didn’t respond to KCE’s request for comment.

Connie Kmiec (Wife of Ted Kmiec and Mother To Trenton Kmiec)
(Kenosha Sheriff’s Department)

Kmiec’s mother, Connie Kmiec, was once arrested for domestic abuse from the above video, but the Racine DA dropped all charges.

The duo most responsible for the white-glove treatment of Kmiec, aside from Graveley himself, are Racine County DA Patricia Hanson and her Deputy DA, Chris Steenrod, both democrats. They keep giving Kmiec over-generous plea deals. The judges are going along.

Trenton Kmiec is expected to be charged in the coming days or weeks. The white glove treatment is likely to stop now. Graveley (D) didn’t respond to any requests for comment. Neither Racine DA Patricia Hanson (D) nor Walworth County DA Zeke Wiedenfeld (D), who are likely to get this case, would respond to KCE either. Graveley is expected to quickly hand this case over to another office before DA-Elect Solis takes over so Kmiec can avoid serious prison time.

    1. Like you didn’t expect this ?

A perfect capping to an otherwise illustrious unblemished career in the legal system and part time government.

      See ya Ted !
Time to move to Arizona and put up a shingle there.
You obviously know the ins and outs of drug law.
I’m sure you’ll do well there

      1. Your right. It’s just shocking to read an officer of the court is allowing or involved in this, in his home. This is his flesh and blood, the outcome seems clear without prison. Hard to understand the mind set of Mr. Kmiec. Ted’s Girlfriend has already died from an overdose there, and his son almost died there, where the F is Ted’s head. I’m sure the neighbors have had enough. The Kmiec’s need to look to a higher power because drugs aren’t working.

  1. Gee special treatment. When they did this to the one family in Paddock Lake, the Mom got arrested too. ARREST THE DAD. Make him sit on 100k, make the kid sit on 500k! Just like the other case. The other case was only for WEED!

If any of those previous board members surface, the voters need to send them a strong message. No More! We are not going back!!!

  4. This is sad, his parents are enablers. Sadly, prison may be the only thing that saves his life. If this happen at one of our homes, we would be in jail with the kid, maybe that would be good for both of them. It amazes me the stranglehold drugs can have on some. Is a box of Narcan, 1 shot or is this dozens of hits? At least they have Narcan, otherwise you won’t need the police just the coroner.

    16
  5. If I read this correctly, there was a boatload of drugs potentially attributable to the son and cannabis products that may or may not be traced to the dad. In any event, one messed up family.

  6. Trenton is a lawyer’s son and he thought it was a good idea to record videos of him having sex with a minor? Holy fucking shitballs Batman! I guess dad and son never had a talk about plausible deniability.

More importantly, how were Trent’s parents not concerned that his 24 year old son was dating a 17 year old? It just seems to me that good parenting would curve hardcore drug usage and screwing 17 year olds.

George Carlin explains this whole situation perfectly: https://youtube.com/shorts/_W20VWRvyR4?si=C8QIFYrQ-SRfsFHl

    1. Using no protection hope the girl doesn’t end up pregnant I am praying for her to get the help she needs poor he has ruined her life

  7. Why did the 17 year old continue to stay in the relationship? Not victim shaming, but come on.17 is old enough to know better and did consent to the behavior. She needs therapy as well or was she complicit?

    10
    2
    1. Doesn’t matter if you think she’s old enough. The law states 17 as being underage- period. Mr. Kmiec knows this but decided to ignore it in his own home, allegedly. Let’s be honest, do you think if she was 15 that would have stopped Trent, he’s the problem not her. Young girls can be very impressionable and make bad decisions, older adults are supposed to protect them, not corrupt them.

      12
      2
    2. She is still a child, her brain is not even fully developed, and she may have been a perfect vulnerable target for manipulationand coercion! She may have simply made a poor choice in a man and then did not have the life skills, resources, or support to get away or break what likely was a trauma bond! I did not see anywhere in this article that she is complicit. I did, however, see that drug items were found in his dad’s room so it is very concerning that an attorney continues evading arrest simply because he is an attorney. He has been in way too many drug-related cases that both he and his son get to somehow avoid the penalties which would be given to anyone else in the same situation.

      2
      1
    3. Obviously I don’t know if you have kids or not, but if that was your own daughter you would probably wouldn’t be sitting here saying a 17 year old victim should’ve known better. He is 24 and he knows damn well that their relationship is not appropriate; and you would think that since he’s gotten charged for being with a minor previously, he’d be smart enough to not do it again. It’s pretty shallow to put the blame on her when she was likely being manipulated to stay, there’s a lot that goes on behind those kinds of relationships. At least she left when she did, otherwise she would probably still be stuck in that house with those two losers. At the end of the day she stuck up for herself and made a hard decision that takes a lot of courage to do.

  8. Running for judge huh? Must feel the need to be untouchable like all the other proven crooked judges around this liberal democratic infested country and mostly appointment by Biden & Obama! Then he and his son will be untouchable well until they are dead from overdose too! Dumbasses! 🤪🤪🤪

  9. The entire *coughcough* ‘Justice’ system is broken. Only those who have been wrongfully accused of and arrested for a crime know the collusion between defense attorneys, the DA’s office, and judges. I survived it…barely.
I’d love to out the POS ‘defense’ attorney I hired when falsely accused of DA; (later allowed to be changed to DV) by a serial accuser who I dated. My ‘crime’?… reaching the end of my limits with being lied to, cheated on (serial cheater), stolen from, manipulated…did I mention the cheating?
The police responded to her false accusations and arrested me at my home. The home I own. They removed me from my home and immediately awarded the nutjob (I hadn’t seen in 2 months) my home and everything I own. I only had the clothes on my back. We never lived together and she had zero legal or financial claims to my home and property.

I was made homeless and she moved in where she immediately proceeded to ‘entertain’ a string of different men every night. It took me 30 days to get my home back…with zero assistance from that POS lawyer. Zero. He refused to honor my request to arrange a meeting with the DA’s office where I felt confident that armed with scores of pictures, text messages, and statements from friends that I could have charges dropped.
That ‘defense attorney’ let it slip that he wanted it to go to trial because it would be the first time he faced his sister in court. I didn’t understand and asked what he meant. He told me his sister was the lead arresting LEO that came to my home!
My home had been raided of most everything of value; including my unwritten in high school yearbook of all things. I learned there’s a huge market for yearbooks and ‘clean’ ones are worth a lot.
Everything from the contents of 2 well stocked freezers, a well stocked pantry (est value ~$5,000 to replace), collectible glassware, 100’s of dollars in medical supplies, medications, carpeting had been burned and drinks spilled on it and left to dry, the detached garage was filled with about 25 trash bags she didn’t take to the curb for collection, a MOUNTAIN of pizza boxes and food delivery packaging…and the list goes on.
After it was over I took an itemized list and pictures to the police. Know what they did?…nothing. One cop accused me of retaliating against her!
Even my home safe had been broken into and gold jewelry and around $6,000 cash was gone.
Long story but trust me…this is the short version of it. What hits me the hardest is that at that time (2019) I learned I was the 4th man that ‘woman’ had run the exact same scam on. Because she’s considered a ‘victim’ she’s afforded guaranteed anonymity. No background investigation will reveal her slimey past. I know because I bought one 3 months into knowing her. The police, and Family and District/Civil courts can access that and red flag repeat ‘victims’ and save men from what I got by doing a deep dive into red-flag serial ‘victims’.
I’ll never date again. And I’m OK with that.

    8
    2
    1. It’s a shame that “simple” background investigations into someone like this wouldn’t cause the legal system to finally arrest her for fraud and whatever other charges that fit is disappointing at best.

If you have the will to, consider talking to Xavier Solis, “before” his start as DA.
      He’s still a private attorney.
I’m sure before he becomes the DA he can give you advice on if either side of the legal system has something to offer you in the future. Whether it’s against her or the lawyer. Somethings got to give

    2. Mandatory charges if criteria fit, and mandatory minimum sentences.. that’s the only thing to stop drug crimes, also fighting with or fleeing from police. Take the sweetheart deals out of prosecutor’s hands.
If your on bodycam footage inside a bar, mandatory jail. If your in squad or body am running/fighting police- mandatory charge if the elements of the crime are met, mandatory minimum sentence.

  10. I have always thought of Ted as a scummy Attorney who always wanted a favor from the Deputies who were handling his clients. Ted has never impressed me with how he handled his clients legal issues. Ted always thought he was special because he’s from Chicago. Well, it’s time for him to get out and leave the area. His reputation is tainted and I hope his law partner is ready to breakup the partnership. Ted’s actions have diminished the credibility of many of those in our legal community who have done nothing to rid this embarrassment from our community. Time to right the wrongs here. I am counting on the good people of the Kenosha County legal community to get rid of their bad apple and restore the damage that has been created by this corrupt lawyer and politician. Let’s all say goodbye to Ted. Hope our community door hits you square in your ass on your way out of town.

  13. Isn’t there ANY branch of anything that this can be sent on to? DOJ (after the inaug.) FBI, whatever. Gravely needs at the least, very serious prison time.

  14. I deeply sympathize with Mr. Ted Kmiec’s situation. While some might suggest that removing a child from the home after his second legal offense is appropriate, one must consider that any father would naturally try to protect his child. Perhaps our attention should be directed toward the officials who were willing to show leniency toward the young person involved. Although the “EYE” provided thorough coverage of this incident, we should not take pleasure in someone else’s misfortune.
Additionally, the use of a SWAT team to address a substance abuse case seems disproportionate.

    2. Ted has done this to himself. There is way too much drug activity at that home. Now, we have new severe charges, and at some point, you have to ask yourself, who is the leader of that family? No way Ted didn’t know what was going on there. I sympathize with people with drug issues it’s a disease, but when people are dying at that residence and nearly dying, something has to give. Ted needs a life path change as well as his son. I’m afraid that Trenton has given up, needs true spiritual help, and his current path is hopeless. Ted must lead by example. Drugs are a symptom of a much bigger problem, I hope both can get help. Trust me the people in his neighborhood have had enough with the Police and EMTs at that residence. The Kmiecs need to get help or move. Occasionally partying is one thing; constant Drug Drama is another. Remember, God does help us, but you have to truly look for it first. I believe the spirit of God is far more powerful than any drug, I know many people whose lives changed for the better with the help of the holy spirit.

As far as this being reported by KCE, well when you’re in the public spotlight, sometimes things shine on you more. Not necessarily fair but it’s the reality in our society. I don’t believe anyone wants Ted or Trent to fail, I hope they can find a new path.

    3. Maybe you should reevaluate your moral compass if that’s what you truly believe. It is normal as a human being to empathize for other human beings, however defending a criminal after multiple alleged sex crimes and a VERY long history of other crimes, seems wrong. I think it is very sad that Trenton went down this path but given how many times the judges have given him leeway, he has had so many opportunities to get clean and become a regular member of society. Rehab and treatment programs only work if the person getting help WANTS to get better. Trenton has almost died multiple times, has support, and access to treatment, yet still chooses the fast life. He doesn’t learn and that’s on him at this point he is a grown adult. Ted is somewhat to blame as he definitely could’ve stepped in and helped more but what can he really do now. They’re both fucked up, I also can’t understand how Ted hasn’t gotten any charges or punishments for the drugs found in HIS room. Or how he hasn’t been questioned about the multiple minors he allows his son to have sleeping in his home??? These judges and DA’s need to STOP giving him chance after chance before things escalate even further than abuse and sexual assault.
