Kenosha, Wis. – A Kenosha woman was charged Monday with driving drunk and injuring a jail inmate in a weekend crash, less than three years after a previous OWI case against her was dismissed without explanation.
Alessandra Dashawn Doby, 26, appeared in intake court today, where a court commissioner released Doby without having to pay any cash.
Inmate passenger hospitalized after late-night crash
The crash happened around 1:49 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of 75th Street and 60th Avenue. Police found a black Ford Escape with heavy front-end damage and a red Chevy Express van that had been rear-ended. The van, a jail transport vehicle, was carrying two inmates. One of them, Spartacus Outlaw, was taken to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital with neck and back injuries.
According to police, a witness saw the driver of the Ford Escape stumble away from the scene, apologize to the van driver, and say she was sorry.
Driver says she’s drunk, refuses sobriety tests
Officers identified the driver as Doby. She allegedly showed signs of severe intoxication, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance, and the smell of alcohol on her breath. She told officers she was drunk, called herself an “alcoholic,” and refused to perform field sobriety tests, saying she knew she would fail.
Inside Doby’s car, police found eight empty White Claw cans and three miniature bottles of Tito’s vodka.
Doby was taken to the hospital, where she refused a voluntary blood draw. Officers obtained a warrant, but Doby reportedly began screaming, kicking, and threatening hospital staff. Officers had to restrain her while the blood sample was collected. Her blood alcohol content had not yet been released as of the complaint filing.

2022 OWI case dismissed after high BAC
Doby was previously arrested for OWI in August 2022, when her blood alcohol level tested at 0.242—more than three times the legal limit. The Kenosha City Attorney’s Office dismissed that case without explanation, despite questions raised by the Kenosha County Eye.
Because of the dismissal, the current case is being treated as a first offense.
Doby now faces three misdemeanor charges:
- Operating While Intoxicated Causing Injury (1st offense)
Maximum penalty: 1 year in jail and a $2,000 fine - Resisting an Officer
Maximum penalty: 9 months in jail and a $10,000 fine - Disorderly Conduct
Maximum penalty: 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine
If convicted on all counts, Doby faces up to 2 years and 3 months in jail and $13,000 in fines. Her license could also be revoked for up to two years, and she would be required to complete an alcohol assessment and treatment.
Her next court appearance is expected later this month.
