SOMERS, Wis. — A Racine County Sheriff’s Deputy who was previously arrested in April for an alleged drunken domestic assault is once again on leave after a second domestic disturbance was reported at his home in Somers.
Emil J. Ortiz, 41, was suspended for three days by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office following his April 5 arrest, according to internal sources. Ortiz had been booked into the Kenosha County Jail after Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to his residence and found probable cause to recommend charges of battery and disorderly conduct, both with the domestic abuse enhancer.
Despite the seriousness of the original allegations, no formal criminal charges were ever filed.
Kenosha County Eye has now confirmed through multiple sources that a second domestic dispute recently occurred at the same Somers home shared by Ortiz and his wife. According to police records, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the residence on June 20, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. for a call labeled “disorderly conduct.” However, no police report was written for the incident.
It is not known whether the June 20 incident involved any physical contact. One source told KCE that Ortiz’s wife may have been the primary aggressor during at least one of the disputes. Following the latest call, Ortiz was again placed on leave by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office.
As of Friday, no criminal charges have been filed against either Ortiz or his spouse in connection with either episode.
The Racine County Sheriff’s Office has declined to comment on the ongoing internal investigation or Ortiz’s employment status, citing personnel confidentiality.

If it’s the husband, then again, why no charges ??
One or the other may end up really hurting the other. Maybe even kill them.

Will the husband lose his job ? Maybe. But any sworn officer that can’t control him or herself in their own home doesn’t deserve the badge they wear.
If it’s the spouse that can’t control themselves, then maybe a divorce is in order.
But something needs to change. And if charges for one or the other, or even both gets their attention, then let’s accommodate that.

Two responding deputies are not the people who should be making decisions on who to bring in.
Sure, since that law stating that if there is a call for any domestic dispute, someone goes in cuffs.
But if it shouldn’t be him but her, and they take him, then that proves that additional people need to get involved and decide.
