PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – Prairie Lane Elementary School parents were notified this week that the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is under investigation for irregularities involving its finances. Both the school and the PTO confirmed that the Pleasant Prairie Police Department is now handling the matter.

Someone spill the beans on this!
This is beyond sad. The students and families raise funds to benefit the school and students. Is there not a check and balance system in place for reporting of funds from PTO’s? It’s basic book keeping. I hope the investigation is swift and prompt.
Would love to know the story! Thanks!
No doubt someone tapped the funds for personal use🚭
No conscience stealing from the kids. EVIL ☠️
This is nothing new… K.U.S.D. will do nothing… I went through this for 3 or 4 years with the END ZONE CLUB at Bradford… went as far as begging the then D.A. to look into it, Fox 6 was involved and did a 6 1/2-minute piece on the story (Google Fox 6 “Where did our money go”?) Although the D.A.’s office supposedly conducted a thorough investigation, it ultimately came down to the fact that “you can’t trace cash.” That man has been and still is ripping our kids off… In just the 4 years I was involved with the END ZONE CLUB at Bradford, he walked away with 1/2 of a million dollars that was raised for the football team… Good luck ever seeing that money!!!
The funds are not managed by KUSD or Prairie Lane staff. No staff member is on the PTO board. Half of last year’s board stepped down. There are so many questions.
Ultimately, this hurts the kids. All PTO planned activities have been suspended. All fundraisers also. Its a shame. Whoever is responsible should be prosecuted to the fullest extent
Sorry to disappoint. But PTO’s and PTAs, Endzone clubs etc are NOT part of the district and are separate 501C3’s. The district has no control over what that organization’s members do. So you can’t blame this on KUSD. It is the private organization’s problem.
K.U.S.D. had previously been notified of “Misdoings” done by this club… They were told to become a 501 (c) (3), so there was accountability. None of this was brought to the incoming new parents’ attention year after year… Fox 6 did a 6 1/2-minute segment on all the wrongdoings they uncovered done by the owner of this club. Apparel, concessions, and all discount cards were businesses owned by the guy running the club. The only money ever accounted for was the checks written to the club; no cash was ever accounted for during the 4 years the D.A. was able to conduct forensic investigations. When’s the last time you went to a football game and bought a hot dog and a Coke and paid for it by writing a check?? K.US.D. was well aware of the “smoke and mirrors” transactions that were happening, but they chose to ignore them until fox 6 got involved…
Can you elaborate on this? I do not recall there being a news segment about Prairie Lane’s PTO. Additionally, the PTO was formed in 2011 from what I see online.
KUSD has no control or oversight or anything related to PTOs, booster clubs, etc. as they are third party organizations. Get that through your thick skull. This is NOT KUSD fault!
LOL…. My thick skull tells me you’re part of the problem…. stealing is stealing… K.U.S.D. is responsible for the safety of our kids… if one of our kids were hurt, let’s say, crossing the street to sell a discount card, who would be held responsible?? Groups supposedly have to get permission from K.U.S.D. to conduct a fundraiser…. If they are going to let any club use their school as their office, then it should be their job to make sure the integrity of the club isn’t compromised by thieves trying to get rich off our kids.
… needing two signatures on checks ?
Ok, I’m a Boomer and I know checks are a thing of the past but still, two people must be aware of all expenditures, no ?
Not necessarily, look up Rita Crundwell.
