SALEM LAKES, Wis. Kenosha County Parks is inviting families to Fox River Park this Friday, Sept. 26, for a special Movie Night in the Park featuring Star Wars: A New Hope. The free outdoor screening will take place near Area #1, just off the park’s entrance, with the film beginning at dusk. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks for a comfortable evening under the stars.
To make the night more interactive, organizers are hosting a costume contest alongside the showing. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters, with winners determined by crowd applause. Prizes include a free pass to Boundless Adventures, the Kenosha County zipline and aerial park located at Bristol Woods County Park.
Parks Director Wyatt Moore emphasized that events like this are about community and connection. “Movie Night in the Park has become a tradition our community looks forward to,” Moore said. “Expanding to Fox River gives more families the chance to enjoy an evening together at our wonderful park”.
Kenosha County Parks has been promoting a series of family-friendly gatherings to encourage outdoor recreation and community engagement. Organizers say the Fox River Park event is part of a larger effort to expand programming beyond the more frequently used Silver Lake and Petrifying Springs locations. Moore added that offering movie nights at multiple parks makes it easier for families from across the county to participate.
Fox River Park, situated on Highway F (93rd Street) just east of Highway W (304th Avenue), is known for its natural trails, picnic areas, and scenic views of the Fox River. Friday’s movie night adds to the park’s lineup of seasonal offerings and highlights the county’s ongoing push to use its park system as a community hub.
