Nicholas I. Dennis, 42, was taken into custody on September 24, 2025, after a $50,000 arrest warrant had been issued on August 25 by Kenosha County Circuit Court commissioner William Michael II. In a surprising move that raised eyebrows throughout the courthouse, Supplemental Court Commissioner David Hughes lowered Dennis’s bail to just $500 cash at his initial appearance. Dennis is due back in court October 3 for a preliminary hearing.
According to the criminal complaint, Dennis is charged with four felony counts tied to controlled drug buys conducted by the Kenosha Drug Operations Group. Prosecutors allege Dennis, who goes by the street name “Memphis,” sold cocaine and fentanyl on multiple occasions between 2023 and 2024. The complaint details undercover purchases that took place near Tremper High School, Christian Life School, and even the Kenosha County Jail — each enhancing the potential penalties if convicted.
The most serious charges include delivery of fentanyl, a Class E felony carrying up to 15 years in prison, and multiple counts of delivery of cocaine near schools and the jail, Class F felonies each punishable by up to 12 years and 6 months. With the penalty enhancers, Dennis faces a maximum exposure of more than 50 years in prison.
On September 13, 2011, Dennis was charged in Kenosha County with a long list of drug and related crimes, including possession with intent to deliver THC between 200 and 1,000 grams as a second and subsequent offense, possession with intent to sell Schedule IV drugs near a school as a second and subsequent offense, obstructing an officer as a repeater, possession of drug paraphernalia as a repeater, possession with intent to deliver THC of 100 grams or less as a second and subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The obstruction and paraphernalia counts were misdemeanors attached to the felony arrests. In a plea deal, Dennis was allowed to plead guilty to possession with intent to deliver THC between 200 and 1,000 grams as a second and subsequent offense, and to possession with intent to deliver THC of 200 grams or less. He was sentenced to five years of probation by the ultra-liberal activist Judge Mary Kay Wagner. That conviction made him both a convicted felon and a convicted drug dealer.
Beyond the charges, Dennis’s online presence has added controversy to his case. In the hours following the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Dennis posted on social media, “That was one hell of a shot…” He also made a string of cryptic and defiant statements in the days before his arrest. One read: “A lot of you motherfuckers hoping and praying I get locked up, but suckers, I can never let the devil take me down in this shit by myself like I should, ten toes.” Another, the day before his arrest, stated: “Hey Facebook family and friends, I have to turn myself in tomorrow. I don’t know, but pray for me. I’ll be okay though, I’m grown. Just my past coming back to haunt me, but I got ammo.”
Sources told Kenosha County Eye that Dennis has long described himself as a Black Lives Matter activist and was present on the streets during the Kenosha riots of 2020.
The combination of his social media activity, political associations, and the seriousness of the charges has left many questioning why his bail was reduced by 99 percent. Dennis remains free on the drastically lowered bond while awaiting further court action.

Who side is michel on law and order or drug dealers?
What’s the rationale for the downvote?
They most likely let him go on a lower bond so he can continue to dig a deeper hole. Obviously hes never gonna stop selling drugs so it’s most likely bigger than a state case. Most likely going to be picked up on a federal level.
Hope he doesn’t kill someone in the meantime.
