KENOSHA, Wis. — A federal appeals court in Chicago will hear arguments this week in a high-profile civil rights lawsuit against a Kenosha police officer accused of using excessive force on a 12-year-old student during a 2022 cafeteria fight at Lincoln Middle School.

The case, Perez and Jane Doe v. Guetschow, was filed in February 2023 by the girl’s father, Jerrel Perez, who claims Officer Shawn Guetschow — then working off-duty as a Kenosha Unified School District security officer — violated his daughter’s Fourth Amendment rights by violently restraining her and pressing his knee into her neck for roughly 30 seconds while she was face-down on the cafeteria floor. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, also accused both KUSD and the City of Kenosha of failing to properly train or supervise Guetschow.

Is the girl’s family legal?
Father should be sued for failing to properly parent a child unleashing her on the rest of us.
Can’t control what your kids do when you’re not around. But what he can do is not support her behavior, that is exactly what he is doing. She won’t learn and will continue a negative trend.
My kids never acted like that when I wasn’t around. Wonder what the difference was…hmmmm.
Wow, from the pictures that appears to be a pretty big 12 year old.
Officer Guetschow worked off-duty as security for the school. What does this have to do with the KPD?
Just a educated hunch. Don’t believe Guetschow just decided to man handle a kid for no reason, more like he did what he had to do to control and out of control very large kid who appears to be fighting him, certainly not follow his orders.
Problem I see is the liberal judges in Chicago hearing this case. Why there? Al Sharpton or Obama get involved.
If anyone remembers, he was breaking up a fight and this girl went nuts. He smacked his head against the table pretty good prior to having to pin her down.
Her behavior is what is the real problem at 12. It’s bs. The dad should apologize for her and to the police officer.
But, we don’t try to fix what’s broken in society anymore.
Dad sees this as his one chance to see his daughter bring in some cash.
You mean “dad”.
the one time a dad’s in the picture…….
Well said
Money grab
!@# ots a mental health episode most statistics say unknow and untreated
Now unable to address the mental health diagnosis due to now ca child without prior incident document per say
Now deemed a criminal for life
A) you need to learn about run-on sentences
B) mental health issues or not, she deserved the aggression to match hers
Me thinks the father should concentrate on teaching his crotch goblin how to behave in public rather than trying to get a payday and reward her for being a out of control public nuisance
Grown man vs 12 year old girl is never a good thing. I remember reading about this. My root cause analysis determines that Grown man utilized combat tactics taught at the police academy (i.e. George Floyd, Mortal Kombat, Catfighting….) to subdue 12 year old girl. This is a money grab by 12 year old girls family. Also the Kenosha Kops are more than aggressive. They banged on my door the other night so loud that I laid my gun on the front table. Fucking goon squad. I’m glad they didn’t see that gun within my arms reach.
Next time just let them beat the breaks off each other
Where are the current girls’ detention prisons in Wisconsin? This girl is either there or headed there. I’ll bet she is feeling very smug and powerful.
So funny because if anyone judging without knowing ever met Guetschow they would immediately know he does not have a mean or over reactive side to him at all, he’s very mild and kind.
This still frame or 3 seconds seen out of a violent outburst need to be judged with the entirety of the circumstances seen and felt. Judging someone else’s split second reaction is easy if you’re not the person, and judging 2-3 frames of a 2 minute video is reckless at best.
If any of you watched the video, it is horrific seeing is believing. It’s still on social media. Fights will happen, that doesn’t mean a child should be tackled to the ground, if he can’t break up kid fight kindly. He shouldn’t be on the force. I’ve gotten into fights as a child, I’ve also witnessed them. I’ve never in my life witnessed a 12 year old basically get beat up by a adult officer til this happened
