KENOSHA, Wis. — Downtown Kenosha will be transformed into a winter showcase of art, music and outdoor activities later this month as the Snow Daze Festival returns for its 12th year, featuring more than 40 ice sculptures throughout the downtown area.
The festival is scheduled for Jan. 24 and is presented by the City of Kenosha and Visit Kenosha, with support from area businesses and the Lakeshore Business Improvement District. Ice sculptures will be displayed at Veterans Memorial Park and in front of participating downtown businesses for as long as weather conditions allow.
Ice artists from Art Below Zero of Franksville will carve a featured sculpture beginning at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, located at 5220 Sixth Ave. Additional sculptures throughout the park are sponsored by Snap-on Inc., Blackhawk Community Credit Union, Visit Kenosha and other local businesses and organizations.
Many downtown businesses will also take part in the event, offering special promotions and hosting ice sculptures outside their storefronts. A full list of participating businesses is available through Visit Kenosha.
Entertainment during the festival will include music provided by Midwest DJ Productions. Zeigler Hyundai will sponsor free s’mores kits beginning at 1 p.m. while supplies last, with fire pits available near the Veterans Memorial Park fountain for roasting marshmallows. Additional food and treats will be available for purchase from vendors.
Winter activities will continue throughout the day with free skate checkouts at the city’s ice rink at Veterans Memorial Park, available from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 24.
The city’s electric streetcar will also offer free rides in conjunction with Snow Daze, operating from 10:35 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. Free event parking will be available downtown, including at the city parking garage at Eighth Avenue and 56th Street.

It’s January in Wisconsin and we have to cross our fingers that the weather will be cold enough to keep ice frozen.

More wasted money in the name of nostalgia.
