Westosha is focusing on allowing free speech whilst also ensuring the safety of their students. While you may not agree with the reasons for the walkout, giving students a safe place to be able to express their views and protest in a peaceful way is undoubtedly the best course of action. Families can choose whether to punish their student for an absence rather than the school enforcing an extra punishment aside from their normal notification of an unexcused absence.

There are more parents that support their kids doing this than teachers and, God forbid, you tell the little darlings no. The kids are constantly using social media. That’s likely where most of these ideas come from. Maybe restrict the time your kids spend on their phones.

My son said the NOT one student left his class today. They were taking finals and would not pass the class if they walked out.

If they want to protest pick a time when you are not supposed to be in school learning. Anyone who walked out should be suspended. And any staff involved should get a few days off with no pay. We pay taxes for the children to go to school. Get politics out of our schools.
