SOMERS, Wis. — Families looking for a community event packed with activities, emergency vehicles and opportunities to support local causes will soon have another option on their calendars as the Somers Fire Department prepares to host Somers Community Day later this month.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Sam’s Club and is expected to bring together residents, businesses, first responders and community organizations for a day focused on family activities and local engagement.
Organizers say attendees can expect food, raffles, children’s games and displays from area businesses and community resources. The event is designed to give residents an opportunity to meet local first responders and learn more about organizations serving the area.
One of the biggest attractions planned for the event is expected to be a Flight For Life helicopter landing scheduled for noon. The helicopter demonstration could provide attendees with an up-close look at one of the region’s emergency medical transport aircraft and the crews who respond to critical incidents throughout southeastern Wisconsin.
Live music is also planned during the event, featuring recording artist Cheryl McCrary, who is also known as All American Mrs. Wisconsin Lady.
The event will also serve a charitable purpose through a “Fill the Fire Truck” fundraiser being held in partnership with Sam’s Club. Organizers are asking community members to donate non-perishable food items, personal care products and paper products to help support local needs.
Officials say the event is intended not only to provide entertainment for families, but also to strengthen connections between emergency responders and the community they serve.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
