KENOSHA, Wis. — The City of Kenosha is accepting nominations for the third quarter of its Hometown Heroes Award Program, which recognizes military veterans and active-duty service members with strong ties to the community.
The Kenosha Hometown Heroes Commission announced Wednesday that nominations are now open for individuals who have served or are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. To qualify, nominees must have been born in the City of Kenosha, currently live in the city, or have lived there for at least 10 years at some point.
Commission members evaluate nominees based on their military service, including decorations, awards, specialized military training, length of service, and tours of duty. They also consider community involvement, such as participation in veterans organizations, volunteer work, civic groups, and other notable accomplishments that demonstrate service above and beyond the call of duty.
Residents may submit one nomination during the quarter. The commission selects one recipient each quarter, who will receive a certificate from the mayor. Quarterly recipients are also eligible to be named the Kenosha Hometown Hero of the Year.
The deadline to submit third-quarter nominations is Aug. 28, 2026. Nomination forms are available by calling 262-653-4000 or through the City of Kenosha’s website.
