Judge Refuses to Issue Felony Warrant for Man Charged With Threatening to Kill Kenosha Police Officers

KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha County Circuit Judge Jason A. Rossell has refused to issue a felony arrest warrant for Shawn Michael Boone, 44, of South Milwaukee, who was charged Monday with threatening to kill multiple Kenosha police officers, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct while armed with a baseball bat. If convicted on all charges, Boone faces up to approximately seven years and three months in prison.

    1. It looks like this was a warrant request that was electronically transmitted into the judge’s inbox as opposed to the old days when a physical warrant was hand carried to a judge by a prosecutor who could answer such a question on the spot. The prosecutor then (vs. now) would also likely have the defendant’s prior criminal record so that an intelligent bond could be set on the warrant. This change is not the fault of the current DA as the change was implemented several years ago.
