JANESVILLE, Wis. — U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil’s campaign says it has built a sizable financial advantage heading into the 2026 election cycle, reporting more than $6.3 million cash on hand — a total the campaign says is more than 35 times the combined cash reserves of all three of his opponents.
According to a campaign news release issued Friday, Steil also raised more than $165,000 during the pre-primary reporting period for his campaign committee, Steil for Wisconsin. The campaign said that total is roughly twice the combined fundraising reported by his opponents during the same period.
“I’m grateful for the continued grassroots support we receive from Wisconsin families,” Steil said in a statement. “I remain focused on the issues that matter most to Wisconsin families. That means lowering costs for hardworking families, making housing more affordable, protecting our seniors, and banning members of Congress from trading stocks. I’m grateful for the strong grassroots support for our agenda and will work every day to move Wisconsin forward.”
The campaign reported the following cash-on-hand totals for Steil’s challengers:
- Mitchell Berman: $151,643.67
- Miguel Aranda: $12,577.58
- Lorenzo Santos: $8,447.72
Combined, the three campaigns reported approximately $172,668.97 cash on hand, according to the Steil campaign.
The release also stated that the three challengers reported the following fundraising during the pre-primary period:
- Mitchell Berman: $59,061.60
- Miguel Aranda: $12,577.58
- Lorenzo Santos: $4,462
By comparison, the Steil campaign reported raising more than $165,000 during the same reporting period.
Steil, a Republican from Janesville, has represented Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District since 2019. The campaign noted that he defeated Democrat Peter Barca by more than 10 percentage points in the 2024 general election, receiving more than 54% of the vote.
