Man Free on $500 Bail in Felony Police Battery Case Arrested for Third OWI, Gets Only $1,500 Cash Bail

KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha man who was free on just a $500 cash bail despite facing a Class H felony punishable by up to six years in prison for allegedly battering a Kenosha police officer is now accused of driving so intoxicated that police say he swerved across traffic lanes, crawled through city streets at about 10 mph, ignored repeated commands to stop, and was so impaired an officer had to reach into his Jeep and place it in park. Despite allegedly committing those offenses while already on felony bond, Court Commissioner Daniel E. Kellum on Wednesday released Tyler J. Thorsen, 34, of Kenosha, on only a $1,500 cash bail after charging him with Operating While Intoxicated (Third Offense) and Felony Bail Jumping.
