BRISTOL, Wis. — The administrators of the controversial Kenosha County Scanner Facebook page, including convicted serial arsonist Allen M. Dunski Jr. and co-administrator John Broemelkamp, quietly replaced an image accompanying a story about a fatal crash Tuesday after the original image inadvertently displayed what appears to be a Snapchat notification from a chat or group named “Hitlers 1st Place…” at the top of the screen.

Dunski, a former firefighter who pleaded guilty to three felony arsons after intentionally setting fires and later responding to them, operates Kenosha County Scanner with Broemelkamp. The operation charges subscribers $4.99, or about $5, per month to view its scanner postings about local police, fire and emergency activity.
Sources have told Kenosha County Eye that the page’s paid subscriber count dropped dramatically after KCE’s 2024 investigation exposed Dunski’s criminal history. KCE has not obtained Facebook’s internal subscription records to independently verify the extent of that decline.
The notification appeared above a graphic announcing that a woman had died and a man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in the 21200 block of Highway C. The visible Snapchat notification read “Hitlers 1st Place…” followed by “Hank sent a chat.”
The notification is truncated, meaning the screenshot does not reveal the complete name of the Snapchat chat or group. It also does not establish whose phone received the notification, who created or named the group, or whether Dunski or Broemelkamp personally belongs to it.
Image Quietly Replaced
The original image did not remain online for long.
Facebook’s edit history for the Kenosha County Scanner post shows that the original version was posted at 1:13 p.m. At 2:11 p.m., Facebook records that the page “Removed 1 media from this post” and “Added 1 media to this post.”
The replacement contained the same crash graphic, but the Snapchat notification was no longer visible.
At least one Facebook user noticed the change.
“Crazy they removed my comment and edited the picture lol,” Kyle Mackay wrote underneath the post.
Kenosha County Scanner responded directly from its page.
“we fixed a mistake and removed comments that were taking away from the woman that died. Pretty simple, nothing ‘crazy’ about it.”
The page’s response acknowledged that it had “fixed a mistake,” but did not explain the “Hitlers 1st Place…” notification, identify whose device it came from or provide any context for the apparent Snapchat group name.
KCE Asks Dunski And Broemelkamp For Answers
Kenosha County Eye contacted Dunski and Broemelkamp seeking clarification about the notification and circumstances surrounding the original image.
KCE asked whose device was used to produce the original image, whether either administrator belongs to the Snapchat chat or group displayed in the notification, what the group’s complete name is, what the name refers to, who created or named it and whether the image was replaced because the Snapchat notification had inadvertently been included.
Neither Dunski nor Broemelkamp responded to KCE’s questions as of publication.
Without those answers, the screenshot alone does not establish whether the Snapchat notification belonged to Dunski, Broemelkamp or somebody else associated with the page. It also does not establish what the complete group name is or the context in which the apparent reference to Hitler is being used.
Dunski’s History As Serial Arsonist
Dunski’s criminal history has been the subject of extensive KCE reporting.
Dunski was convicted in 2002 of three felony counts of arson involving separate fires, including two vehicles and an RV camper. According to court and law-enforcement records previously reviewed by KCE, Dunski intentionally set the fires and later responded to fires he had started. He was sentenced to 18 months in state prison.
Dunski was also investigated in connection with the September 1997 fire that destroyed the Silver Lake Village Hall, which housed the village’s police and fire departments. A Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department investigative report identifies Dunski during the investigation and documents a detective directly asking him whether he had set or caused the fire. Dunski denied doing so.
Dunski was never charged in connection with the Silver Lake fire. KCE previously reported that investigators considered him a person of interest and/or suspect but did not obtain sufficient evidence to charge anyone in connection with the blaze.
Years later, Dunski was appointed to the Salem Lakes Fire Commission and eventually became its vice president. His tenure ended shortly after KCE published its January 2024 investigation into his criminal history.
Dunski resigned from the commission six days after that investigation was published. Then-Village President Rita Bucur had asked him to step down after reviewing the underlying police reports and court documents.

Less than three weeks later, Salem Lakes Fire Commission President Allen Thennes, Dunski’s good friend, also resigned in protest. He later asked the Village President to re-appoint him, and she said no.
Dunski later sought a pardon for his felony convictions from Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers. His application was ultimately denied.
Broemelkamp Previously Defended Dunski
Broemelkamp has also appeared in KCE’s previous reporting concerning Dunski and Kenosha County Scanner.
When KCE contacted Broemelkamp about Dunski’s criminal history and their operation of the scanner page, Broemelkamp dismissed concerns about his associate’s past.
“that’s old news and isn’t a factor at all,” Broemelkamp told KCE.
The two men also previously represented Kenosha County Scanner as an LLC before state paperwork establishing the company had been filed, according to KCE’s earlier investigation.
When KCE confronted Broemelkamp about the discrepancy, he responded, “May want to check your ‘sources’ we are a legit LLC. And there’s documents and the Tax info to prove it.”
According to KCE’s reporting, Dunski and Broemelkamp filed paperwork establishing Kenosha County Scanner LLC with the State of Wisconsin later that same day.
KCE again reported on the operation in April 2025 after a 21-year-old woman accused Dunski of contacting members of her family and her workplace after she shared information originating from the paid Kenosha County Scanner page.
Questions About Snapchat Group Remain Unanswered
The available evidence establishes that the Kenosha County Scanner post originally contained an image showing a Snapchat notification bearing the words “Hitlers 1st Place….”
Facebook’s edit history shows that the page subsequently removed one media item and added another. The replacement graphic did not contain the notification.
Kenosha County Scanner then publicly acknowledged that it had “fixed a mistake” while explaining why comments discussing the issue had been removed.
What the page has not explained is whose device received the Snapchat notification, what the full name of the Snapchat group or chat is, what the apparent Hitler reference means, who named the group or whether Dunski or Broemelkamp participates in it.
KCE gave both administrators an opportunity to answer those questions.
Neither responded.
