Kenosha Chief Judge Overrides Kenosha County Judge’s AI Disclosure Rule; Attorneys No Longer Required To Reveal AI Use

KENOSHA, Wis. — Kenosha’s Chief Judge Wynne P. Laufenberg has overridden a Kenosha County court rule requiring attorneys and other litigants to disclose when artificial intelligence was used to prepare court filings.

Laufenberg, who is also a Racine County Circuit Court judge, serves as chief judge of Wisconsin’s Second Judicial Administrative District, which includes Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties. On Sept. 23, Laufenberg signed a district-wide interim policy governing generative artificial intelligence that supersedes any local rule inconsistent with it. Second Distrist AI Policy
