KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. — Kenosha County residents who want to avoid the crowds and potential lines on Election Day will have an opportunity to cast their ballots early beginning Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Kenosha County Clerk Regi Waligora announced Friday that in-person absentee voting for the November 3 General Election will be available at municipal clerks’ offices throughout the county through Friday, October 30. Voters will have different hours and locations depending on where they live, and several municipalities are offering extended hours to accommodate residents who cannot vote during the traditional workday.
“In-person absentee voting provides a convenient opportunity for people to cast their ballots early, avoiding possible lines on Election Day,” Waligora said. “Be sure to bring your photo ID. Our municipal clerks work hard to make this experience efficient and secure.”
Wisconsin voters do not need to provide a reason for voting absentee, and anyone who is eligible to vote can take advantage of early in-person voting. Residents must vote at the designated location in the municipality where they reside, rather than simply choosing whichever voting location is most convenient. A valid photo ID is required, and residents who are not registered at their current address can register at their municipal clerk’s office before casting their ballot.
Important Voting Deadlines
The General Election is Tuesday, November 3, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. throughout Wisconsin. Early in-person absentee voting begins Tuesday, October 20, and concludes Friday, October 30. There will be no in-person absentee voting on Monday, November 2, the day before the election.
Friday, October 30, is also the final day voters can register at their municipal clerk’s office before Election Day. Residents who miss that deadline can still register at their designated polling place on November 3, provided they bring the necessary documentation.
For residents who prefer to vote by mail, the deadline to request an absentee ballot is 5 p.m. Thursday, October 29, for most voters. However, election officials strongly recommend submitting requests well before that deadline because of potential postal delays. The United States Postal Service and Wisconsin Elections Commission recommend mailing completed absentee ballots by October 24 or earlier to help ensure they arrive on time.
“I strongly encourage people who plan to vote by mail to act soon,” Waligora said. “Completed ballots that are not in the hands of the municipal clerks’ offices when the polls close on Election Day will not be counted.”
Completed absentee ballots must be received by the appropriate municipal clerk no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day. Simply having a ballot postmarked by November 3 is not sufficient. Voters may also return completed ballots directly to their municipal clerk’s office during normal business hours.

How To Check Your Registration, Find Your Polling Place And Track Your Ballot
Wisconsin voters can visit the state’s official election website, MyVote Wisconsin, to verify their voter registration, update their information, locate their Election Day polling place, review a sample ballot, request an absentee ballot or track the status of a previously requested ballot.
