KENOSHA, Wis. – A 33-year-old Seattle man described by Kenosha Police as armed, dangerous and unstable was captured in Chicago Tuesday following an extensive manhunt connected to the shooting deaths of two Kenosha residents. Michael A. O’Neal Fleming was arrested with assistance from the United States Marshals Service after investigators identified him as a person of interest in a double homicide discovered Monday afternoon.

The victims have been identified as Rodney Brushwood, 57, and Rena O’Neal, 59, both of Kenosha. According to Kenosha Police Lieutenant Adam Jurgens, officers discovered their bodies inside a residence in the 5500 block of Washington Road on Monday, October 19, 2026, at approximately 2:51 p.m. Officers had been dispatched to the home to conduct a welfare check requested by a third party. Investigators subsequently determined that both victims had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
Police Launch Manhunt For Armed And Dangerous Man
As detectives investigated the killings, they identified O’Neal Fleming as a person of interest and immediately began searching for him. Police issued a public safety alert Tuesday warning residents that he was believed to be armed, dangerous and unstable, and urging anyone who encountered him to avoid contact and immediately call 911.
Fleming was described as approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds, with short hair, brown eyes and a noticeable gait. Police said he had last been seen in the northwest section of Kenosha and might have been wearing all-black clothing and carrying a large sling-style bag. The alert prompted widespread sharing on social media as authorities worked to locate him.
The search ultimately led investigators to Chicago, where Fleming was located and arrested with assistance from the United States Marshals Service. Police have not disclosed the circumstances of his arrest, whether a firearm was recovered or what relationship, if any, he had with the two victims.
Extradition And Criminal Charges Expected
According to Jurgens, Kenosha detectives will work with the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office to initiate extradition proceedings and pursue criminal charges against Fleming in Wisconsin. The department has not announced specific charges, a possible motive or how long the victims may have been deceased before officers discovered their bodies.
Kenosha Police thanked members of the community for providing tips and witness information that assisted investigators, along with the United States Marshals Service for helping locate and apprehend Fleming. The investigation into the double homicide remains ongoing.
