Wife, Not Husband Charged With Domestic Abuse After Both Spouses Arrested Following Somers Welfare Check

SOMERS, Wis. – In a surprising development following a domestic disturbance that resulted in the arrests of a Somers husband and wife, only the wife was criminally charged Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Michelle Renee Martin, 46, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier following an October 16 confrontation with her husband, Joshua Todd Martin, 48. Although sheriff's deputies initially arrested Joshua on suspicion of battery and disorderly conduct, prosecutors have not filed criminal charges against him. Joshua denied assaulting his wife and alleged that Michelle intentionally inflicted injuries upon herself in an effort to get him into trouble. Deputies responded to the couple's residence in the 8600 block of 7th Street on Saturday afternoon following a third-party report expressing fears for Michelle's safety.
