After serving the public as a prosecutor for over 30 years, Kenosha District Attorney Mike Graveley will retire at the end of his term which concludes in January 2025.  DA Graveley was first hired by the Kenosha DA’s Office in 1989.  For over a decade starting in 2005, DA Graveley served as Deputy DA while working as the primary prosecutor of firearm-related crimes.  In 2016, DA Graveley was elected District Attorney and then re-elected in 2020.

Former Police Officer, Attorney, and Court Commissioner Loren Keating:  “Mike Graveley took on the position of District Attorney understanding the great responsibility and public trust involved.  No one else could have guided Kenosha County through the difficulties of the last several years, and I’m thankful that Mike was here to face those challenges.”

DA Graveley:  “Kenosha County has been so good to myself and my family.  It’s been an honor to be of service.  My friends and colleagues have informally known for years that 2025 would bring retirement.  I’m happy to pass the mantle to a group of prosecutors that I’m so proud of.”

“I give my heartfelt congratulations to District Attorney Mike Graveley on his well-deserved retirement.  DA Gravely has shown dedication and commitment in leading his office over his time as District Attorney, but it would be remiss of me to not mention that he is the best trial attorney I have worked beside.  I learned a lot from him over the years and his collaborative spirit helped police and prosecutors continually work together to ensure we are providing Kenosha County with the best law enforcement possible. I hope he has a healthy and happy retirement,” said Kenosha Police Chief Pat Patton.

He’s put away some very dangerous criminals over the years. Thank you Mike and good luck,” said Kenosha County Sheriff David W. Zoerner.

“Mike Graveley has been a tremendous mentor and friend to me since I began practicing law in the DA’s Office.    Kenosha has benefitted from his leadership in ways they will never fully understand – by virtue of his leadership, integrity, and exceptional skill. He maintained his principles of following the law and serving justice during some of Kenosha’s most challenging times. He never bowed to public pressure and with dignity always did what was right and just.  His commitment to Kenosha has never wavered. He has taken time to pass on that integrity and legal skills to those who worked closely with him in the DA’s Office. Kenosha was lucky to have him as District Attorney and he will be missed but I wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement,” said Judge and former prosecutor Angelina Gabriele.

KCE: “Mike Graveley has served his community for many years. Mike is the one you would want as the prosecutor in a jury trial for the bad guy that did harm to a member of your family. Defense attorneys and the rest of the legal community all agree that he is one of the best at trial. We wish him a long, healthy, and enjoyable retirement.”

“Mike Graveley has been the consummate public servant, someone who has made difficult and sometimes controversial decisions but never for his own gain or benefit, but because he believed that it was the right decision under the law.   I have known Mike for over 20 years, worked with him in the District Attorney’s office, tried cases against him as a defense attorney, and presided over trials where he was the prosecutor.   We have not always agreed, but I never doubted his sincerity and his drive to do what was right.

As Chief Judge, the system of handling the volume of cases requires all partners from the Public Defender to the District Attorney to cooperate on changes and processes.   This is where I have been so blessed to have Mike as District Attorney.    Not only working on projects to speed up adoptions finding children permanent homes, but also working on the flow of cases for the benefit of all Kenosha citizens whether Defendant or Victim.

I wish Mike a long and enjoyable retirement, he has fought the good fight and deserves a restful and enjoyable retirement.   I will miss him,” said Judge Jason Rossell

    1. I agree the man charged a girl with murdering her pimp, double chin scumbag deserves the curb for treating black girls like animals and not prosecuting a abuser pimp.

    2. Considering this man has sided with Child sex traffickers over victims I’m glad to see him leaving. It’s a pity the justice system won’t do all it can to Stop sex trafficking instead rewarding men like him who protect them.

        1. That’s “Sargeant Hard” to you Mr. Anonymous!

BTW Chad, I’ve been a little busy in light of Kevin exposing my side hustle.. We can still cummunicate on chaturbate though. Keep up the liberal activism from the bench, you are doing great!

  1. How many people are sitting in prison after being wrongfully convicted due to the unethical actions of the District Attorney’s office?

  2. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
SOB was NOT interested in justice, only politics and keeping a revolving door spinning. PLEASE there must be some local legal eagles who actually will enforce the laws and protect the ALL public by getting the perps off the streets, instead of refusing, recusing and generally abusing the spirit of the law. Likewise for his underlings.

      1. Mike was phenomenal in the Kaylie Juga trial. He was very compassionate to the family during the roughest times of their lives.

    1. Exactly! Nobody said he was wasn’t talented, or competent, that’s not the issue. Indeed, a very competent prosecutor is a worse prosecutor when/if they decide to go after or not go after people for the wrong reasons. Complementing this guy is like praising the driving skills of the dude who drove through the Christmas parade, for not getting hung up on his victims.

  3. Mr. Gravely has been serving this county for a long time. Most of his Assistants including his Deputy ran away soon as worst Ever(s) decided to find Officer X guilty for shooting Citizen Blake seven times in the back.
Mr. Gravely remained loyal to his oath. We all have political points of view. His office prosecuted Rittenhouse and justice was served. No matter how badly they wanted that kid locked up forever, justice was served.
I feel that Mr. Gravely was at times unfairly demonized. Let’s keep in mind that it was worst Ever(s) who instigated the social unrest. It was worst Ever(s) who told Sheriff Beth to lay low allowing the vandals to gain control of our town.
Mr. Gravely’s Deputy is very efficient. She wont allow politics to interfere with her legal decisions.

    1. Dave Beth, aka the Kenosha Cuck didn’t have to take any marching orders from Evers. Blood is on Dave Beth’s hands for his failed leadership. Dave Beth should have been on trial for being a traitor. A jury would have found the Kenosha cuck guilty. Andy Bergs nipple clamps and dildos are more useful than Dave Beth.

  4. Mike Gravely is an excellent trial lawyer and the guy you’d want as the prosecutor if a member of your family was the victim of a violent crime.

The Kenosha County District Attorney’s office has been blessed — and cursed — with having scrappy trial lawyers as DA. Predecessors Bob Zapf and Bob Jambois also had a “take no prisoners” approach. But the best players aren’t always the best managers. Having said this, Mike Graveley does work to mentor his staff which must have been quite a task at times due to turnover because of low pay and staff shortages.

I’m hoping the next DA will be less of a “Paladin” (Have Gun, Will Travel) and focus on working on new strategies to attack Kenosha’s crime problem. We’ve been doing the same things the same way for more than 50 years but not with better results.

  6. A man whom I have great respect for though I may not have agreed with a couple things. He was definitely the guy I knew in that office you would want when you had a tough case going to trial. After 30 years of a career find one person anyone of us wouldn’t disagree with at some point? Many Many congratulations Mikey! You were always a man of integrity.

    1. Brian, or Albert, or whatever name you are using today:

If you define “integrity” as the willingness to be corrupt and interpret evidence in a way that contradicts forensic science, Graveley is loaded with integrity. He saved your ass from having your perjury in the Bell case exposed. BTW: That is not over. You are still the goldfish in the Blender. Someday the purée button will be pushed.

      6
      2
  7. The good; DA Gravely was a mentor to his younger attorneys. He was an excellent gun prosecutor, a job which he was originally hired for. He was protective of his staff and law enforcement officers and always played the PC game.

The bad: He was a mentor towards his younger staff…see how that turns out. He was protective of his staff….yep- he covered for Angelina Gabriele tons back in the day. He wanted to be PC but still be immune and his his staff to do prosecutions that he should have done himself. He allowed his Victim Witness staff to press his attorneys on charging cases about sexual assaults or child abuse crimes.

The ugly: Kenosha knows what they had in MG but now who will take the helm?

Anyways, MG will now be a “has been” and I hope he can relax and enjoy his family and retirement.

  8. Long overdue should have resigned instead years ago! How many innocent people has he lied about in order to convict and refused to turn over exculpatory evidence ect. Its a joke he made it this far! Dont let the door hit you on the ass on your way out! As far as being a good mentor to other DAs, he taught them how to better lie, how to incriminate innocent people, how to redact body cams to their liking and how to never hand over COMPLETE discoveries. And why not release the bullet in the michael bell case??!! Such a great mentor he was (eyeroll) Gravely is a corrupt piece of shit!

  9. In LE, I watched MG throughtout his career. He is one of the best court litigators/speakers (attorney) I have ever heard in court. I liked him. He was polite and courteous to all. He knew his work. Firm. Yet fair.
His beliefs could be too liberal for me; not congruent with mine. But he was a good man. Mike, I wish you the best.

  10. I served 9 years in the Wisconsin Prison System on drug charges and when I was released I had a dream of becoming a social worker. A lot of people tried to shut down my dream by holding my past against me. Mike challenged me to work with the Division of Community Corrections to speak with youth about the consequences of gangs, guns and drug involvement. I work with them for two years and Mike supported removing my fines and court costs and early release from parole, which played a big part of me graduating from UW Whitewater with my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and graduating from USC School of Social Work with my Masters of Social Work. And, yes–my dream of becoming a social work has been realized! I am licensed as an advanced practice social worker and has worked in Child Protective Services for the past five years! Mike believing in me when a lot of other people didn’t is a big part of my I have been crime-free for more than twenty years!
