A now-fired Salem School District Special education teacher was under the influence of and possessed cocaine and paraphernalia on school grounds. According to Sgt. Coultrip with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department:
“On October 16th around 3:30pm, Salem Grade School Administration contacted the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department asking for a Deputy to assist in the search of items left behind by a school employee who had resigned, Kayla Fasko. Two Deputies responded to assist and during the search, they located the following:
- White powder tested positive for cocaine
- Cut portion of straw, white power residue on the inside
- Plastic baggy with white powder residue
Fasko cooperated with the investigation and criminal charges of possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia have been requested.”
Fasko, a former special education teacher at Salem School who had previously been placed on administrative leave, has been fired and identified by the district last Thursday afternoon. According to a statement released to KCE and parents, the teacher, Kayla Fasko, has been fired today after she was discovered “under the influence of an illicit substance” on October 3, 2024. Additionally, the district has submitted procedural documents required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to review her teaching license.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s website, Fasko’s teaching license is “under investigation.” As of publication, the Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office has not charged Fasko.
“If you, a loved one, or anyone that you know is struggling with the use of drugs, alcohol, or any other addiction, there are numerous community partners to assist you in these difficult situations.” -Sheriff David W. Zoerner.
District Superintendent Dr. Vicki King had previously stated:
“We take this matter very seriously and remain committed to ensuring accountability, safety, and integrity within our district. We deeply appreciate the quick response and vigilance of our staff in reporting concerns, which allowed the Board to take appropriate action.
While we know it can be frustrating that we cannot share more details because it is an ongoing investigation and a personnel matter, we want you to know that we are fully cooperating with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. Thank you for your continued dedication to our students and your support in maintaining a positive learning environment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.”

Wow and caught on school grounds. She needs to sit her ass in prison and never be around kids again.
couldn’t wait to get home, society is decaying at an alarming rate, Thanks Kevin for let us know about what goes on in our schools. Yikes
KUSD are you listening and watching what Salem did? Kenosha would have hid and protected the teacher, we are sick of the tactics you are using we need CHANGE!!!!!!!!!
And what kind of background checks are being done If you can’t even find that an employee’s license is under investigation?? Wow! Someone messed up big time!
Pretty sure her license was out under investigation because of this instance, therefore her license was previously in good standing when she was hired. Just a guess.
License was “under investigation” because it was expired and a background check was submitted. If your teaching license expires and you didn’t renew because you weren’t teaching, and you decide later to go back into teaching, the background check will flag an investigation to determine if the person (who applied for a teaching job) actually got hired and would need to renew their license. Usually the school district would require you to renew your license and verify before assigning you a classroom and giving you a teaching job. Apparently Salem School isn’t big on “details”
Pre-employment Drug Testing.
Is that done at schools ?
Or is it not allowed per union contract ?
Someone who knows please chime in here.
My construction union has pre employment drug testing along with random piss in a cup testing. Once notified I have 24 hours to get to a testing facility and provide a sample. I get paid the hour to take the test and the ability to show up late for work or leave early so it’s really not a burden.
It’s the employer that is in charge of the random- not the union. The union “allows” it but the employer is the one who facilitates it.
it’s in my union contract. All companies signed on with hiring an outside agency to run the process of picking the “random” workers to get tested.
Once failing the test, the union ensures that that employee receives the restrictions and help specified to resolve their issue so they can return to work. The union watches over so the worker just doesn’t go to another contractor to work there. The union is the keeper of the test results not the employer. The employers also receives consideration from their insurance companies for having a drug testing program in place.
Remember. Trade unions are clearing houses for workers to go to whatever company needs workers. Test results need to stay in one place
cocaine washes out in a few hours-a day.
Watch out KEV, therapist wack job will accuse you again of pulling the great women of Kenosha county through the mud..
Cocaine is one hell of a drug
We need to throw more money at the schools, do it for the children!
The schools get plenty taxpayer dollars!!! Have you not looked at the salaries? The administration gets the big bucks…they need to get their salaries decreased for the crap we are putting up with and give it yo the teachers who do the real work!!!

I feel sorry for her students not receiving the services they deserved, and not just in this school district.
There is such a shortage of special education teachers , anyone can get a job regardless of their qualifications and job history.
Our children deserve better
I hope Kayla gets the help she needs.
It takes a special person to teach special education. Obviously she’s not it…sad
