KENOSHA, Wis. — A north side Kenosha woman is serving a four-month sentence in federal prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge related to a scheme that fraudulently secured millions of dollars in government contracts.
Nicole Platt, the former owner of Broadway Construction LLC, is incarcerated at FCI Pekin, a medium-security federal correctional institution in Illinois. Her projected release date is November 5, 2025, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Platt pleaded guilty in February to a felony count of making a false statement to the U.S. Small Business Administration in violation of 15 U.S.C. § 645(a). She admitted to concealing her company’s affiliation with Platt Construction—her father’s Franklin-based firm that was ineligible for federal contracting preferences—while certifying that Broadway Construction qualified for the SBA’s HUBZone program.
Prosecutors said Platt was still employed by Platt Construction while running Broadway and used that company’s staff and resources to secure and manage federal projects. Over 500 emails reviewed by investigators showed Platt routinely turned to Platt Construction employees for help with bidding, contract compliance, and communication with government officials.
Between 2019 and 2021, Broadway secured more than $4.7 million in HUBZone set-aside contracts, yielding a profit of approximately $323,000.
While her conviction was limited to misrepresentations about business control, a 2023 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report revealed that a broader federal investigation had examined whether Platt falsely claimed to be Black in an earlier application for Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) status. A search warrant affidavit stated that she “represented she was Black” despite her driver’s license describing her as a blonde, blue-eyed white woman. That application was ultimately rejected by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Although Platt was never charged with racial identity fraud, the affidavit alleged that Broadway Construction was used as a front to funnel millions in minority- and HUBZone-designated contracts to Platt Construction, violating the spirit of the set-aside programs.
At her June 11 sentencing hearing, U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller imposed four months in federal prison, followed by one year of supervised release. The court also ordered Platt to pay $23,652 in restitution. A $5,000 fine was waived due to financial hardship.
Platt waived her right to appeal and must pay at least $500 per month toward restitution while under supervision. She remains a convicted felon.

For Her !
4 months for $300K
And she gets three meals a day during her stay.
Why isn’t she responsible to give all the profits back ?? Only $23K fine. Wow !
Almost seems worth it
Really? Go for it.
Well, she went to prison ……… the Bidens didn’t …
There was no fine.
Sounds like basically she profited close to $300,000 after fines and restitution. Being a felon is pretty though only 4 months incarceration, seemed to be a very profitable venture for this criminal. $75,000 per month sitting in a Fed prison.
Two readers writing virtually the same comment 2 minutes apart.
Like minded people here.
Must be something in the water
And? Whats your point?
Who you talking to?
Send her to El Salvador 🇸🇻 Prison ASAP NOW…….
Send her to El Salvador 🇸🇻 Prison ASAP NOW…….
The restitution was $23K, not the fine.
Reading comprehension is hard for mouth breathers.
Either way she scammed the federal government.
Didn’t she have something to do with local beauty pageants at one time?
Yes
Some of these people,s parents put up a good front bragging about their great kids and husband too. When I went out a lot saw so many married men hitting on everyone.
WOW, she’s fallen pretty far from her dance instructor days….mommy and daddy did very well for themselves and should be held just as accountable as she is (where did she learn her fraud from?). Wonder how much fraud her daddy has committed?
Once upon a time, she was a dance instructor/owner that pulled out of a dance recital for her own dance school just a couple weeks before the event.,.HER OWN STUDENTS. She decided she wanted to go live in Chicago, last minute decisions that are paid by mommy and daddy. Zero respect for her and frankly not the tiniest bit surprised at her actions.
