KENOSHA, Wis. — The cash bail for Marco A. Infusino — the 25-year-old Kenosha man accused of leading police on a 115 mph chase into Illinois — has been lowered twice in the span of just over a week. Court Commissioner William Michel initially signed a $75,000 arrest warrant, then set bail at $50,000 during Infusino’s July 2 court appearance. Eight days later, Michel reduced the bail again to $15,000. The full amount was posted on July 11, and Infusino is now free pending trial.
Infusino was charged on June 30 in Kenosha County Circuit Court. He faces nine charges, including felony fleeing, five counts of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, hit and run, possession of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and OWI, along with several municipal citations.
Despite strong objections from the District Attorney’s Office, Michel lowered the bail — a rare move in a case involving multiple felonies, high-speed flight, and the endangerment of officers and civilians. Prosecutors cited the severity of the conduct and risk to public safety in opposing the reduction.
The charges stem from a June 28 incident in Pleasant Prairie, when an officer attempted a traffic stop for a stop sign violation. Infusino allegedly fled, leading a high-speed pursuit that continued into Illinois. According to police, he swerved into oncoming lanes, struck multiple squad cars, and nearly hit civilian vehicles before being boxed in and arrested in Zion.

Pleasant Prairie Police released dashcam footage of the chase along with a statement that read, in part: “Illinois isn’t an escape route — it’s just more road.” The department credited the safe outcome to coordination with the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, Zion Police, Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Zion Fire-Rescue.
Police recovered suspected crack cocaine, two glass smoking devices, and a loaded Glock 19 with an extended magazine from Infusino’s vehicle. He allegedly told medics he had been using cocaine “all day” and admitted he fled to try to get to Illinois.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 1.

So let me get this straight… Commissioner Michel (D) starts with a $75,000 warrant, drops it to $50,000, then just eight days later slashes it to $15,000? What gives? Who does this guy know? Who does he owe money to? A favor, perhaps? At this rate, next time it’ll come with a coupon and a punch card. Commissioner Michel, the public deserves an explanation, because that math ain’t mathin’!
The explanation was probably given in court. $15k is plenty. Bail doesn’t buy dismissal of the case, you know. This ain’t TV.
Ummm $15k is not enough man was running for a simple stop sign violation. He chose to run chose to use his vehicle as a dangerous weapon and put that civilians life at risk including those cops. If you think $15k is what a life is worth then your wrong oh but wait that’s probably what yours is worth.

I issued a correction. I previously wrote that judge Gabriele lowered the bell but I was incorrect. When I republished the article, all of the comments went away. Which I think is fair because people were commenting on incorrect information.

The 75K and 50K bail amounts appear quite excessive based on the charges, unless there are priors.

William Michel exemplifies the deficiencies present in our current court system. I recommend that you interview him to hear his perspective; otherwise, we should proceed with the necessary steps to have him replaced by someone less inefficient.
Michel has been terrible since his first day. The local court system is filled with incompetence and he is at the top of the list!

Sure did read that article. And he clearly states that bail is basically so that they are guaranteed to show up for court! This judges palms are being greased, it aint rocket science! Look at the kids last name!

Also, if the kid shows up for all of his court dates, would you then admit that the $15k was a sufficient amount of bail?
I don’t believe that is the issue here.I believe the issue is why was this particular individuals bail lowered repeatedly?
All parents want to help their children but in this case their helping with bail isn’t helping him.
He would be better off sitting in jail thinking about why he was in jail.
Learning that actions have consequences would be better for him rather than knowing his mommy and daddy will always bail him out.

He does not receive bribes from anyone. I will never understand who could possibly have appointed him to the position of Commissioner; the job is too big for him, but he is not corrupt.

This is not the first time you have raised concerns regarding the low bail amounts set by this commissioner. If the defendant is released and subsequently reoffends, resulting in someone being injured or killed, who will be held accountable? Will the commissioner be required to provide an explanation?
It must be profoundly discouraging for law enforcement officers to risk their lives apprehending a suspect, only to see that individual released by a commissioner whose decisions appear to undermine their efforts.

This comments section is a microcosm of USA. Clearly most reasonable people know that bail is not a punishment, its purpose is a surety, that you will heed bail conditions & you will turn up to court.
Despite this common knowledge, people want to argue in the comments that various people are corrupt. With their only evidence being totally normal court proceedings.
As an Aussie, being a lifelong learner, looking for the result of this case, I’m saddened looking at local 🇺🇸 news to find common sense drowned out by a false corruption narrative in the comments.
Opinions without evidence are like tall tales. Evidence needs to back up your claim. Not AI, not a google search or grok, evidence. Common sense doesn’t call things fake news, it brings evidence and explains why something is incorrect.
