KENOSHA, Wis. — A 26-year-old Kenosha man was formally charged Tuesday with second-degree sexual assault and felony bail jumping after a woman reported being assaulted in her home while under the influence and possibly drugged.
Elias E. Robles, who has prior felony convictions, appeared in court today for his initial appearance. Court Commissioner William Michel II ordered a $100,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 13.
According to the criminal complaint, the alleged assault occurred in the early morning hours of August 2 at a residence on the 1800 block of 55th Street. The woman told police she invited Robles over for a drink and recalled consuming two shots of tequila before feeling like she was losing consciousness. Her next memory, she said, was her fiancé yelling and pushing Robles out of the apartment. She reported being naked from the waist down and believed she had been drugged.
Her fiancé told police he found Robles behind the woman, both with their lower garments removed, and believed intercourse had occurred. He confronted Robles, who allegedly said, “This is what she wanted… she forced me to do this, I didn’t even put it in.” The woman was reportedly verbally unresponsive during the incident.
Robles later admitted to police that they began having sex but claimed it was consensual. He also stated that they had shared tequila and cocaine earlier that evening.
At the time of the alleged assault, Robles was out on a $2,000 cash bond in a separate felony drug case filed in June. Prosecutors have charged him as a repeat offender due to prior convictions in 2023 for narcotics possession and maintaining a drug trafficking place.
