KENOSHA, Wis. – A new family-favorite restaurant is on its way to Kenosha. Plans for a 9,625-square-foot Pizza Ranch at 4955 Green Bay Road received preliminary approval from the City Plan Commission, paving the way for construction on the southeast corner of 49th Street and Green Bay Road.
The $4.26 million development will feature a large buffet area, dining room, “Fun Zone” arcade, and community rooms for gatherings, according to city planning documents. The restaurant will include 111 parking spaces, three driveway entrances, and stormwater management systems across the 2.15-acre site.
The building design incorporates stone and cement board siding, large windows, and awnings that match Kenosha’s architectural standards. City staff encouraged the developer, PR Kenosha LLC, to move the building closer to Green Bay Road to align with nearby businesses and improve the streetscape.
The property owner and developer, Bjorn Kaashagen of Cambridge, Wisconsin, is working with Blowfish Architects of Ripon and Vierbicher engineering consultants of Reedsburg and Milwaukee.
The project will undergo a formal public hearing following publication of a legal notice. Once approved, the restaurant will join a fast-growing corridor anchored by retail, restaurants, and service businesses.
City planning staff noted that the Kenosha location will resemble other Pizza Ranch sites across Wisconsin, such as those in West Bend and Verona, featuring covered porches, stone accents, and rustic finishes.
Pizza Ranch, founded in Iowa in 1981, has become a Midwest staple known for its pizza, chicken, and community-centered atmosphere. The company’s slogan — “Legendary Pizza, Chicken, Salad, and Cactus Bread” — is familiar to fans across more than a dozen states.
Construction permits must be obtained within a year of final approval, and all improvements, including landscaping and signage, must be completed before occupancy.
Residents have already taken to local social media expressing excitement about the family-oriented restaurant’s arrival. Once built, it’s expected to become a major draw for families, youth groups, and community events along one of Kenosha’s busiest commercial routes.

That’s awesome but I wish a big draw business will come down town. Like Bob Chens … oh wait… that didn’t happen. But bars and pizza seem to be the staple. Lots of empty buildings and dawn of the dead characters roaming the sidewalks. The library has become a pit stop for a restroom and porn on computers. It wasn’t always like that.

False. Its an Italian restaurant town. To hell with fast food and shitty buffets. It will fail, hopefully. Stick with the Mom n Pop pizza joints.

I won’t embarrass them by calling them out, but many of the long time names in Kenosha pizza, now suck. Shadows of their former selves, there’s a reason why Domino’s and Pizza Hut have become the go-to for so many people. I am absolutely looking forward to having a Pizza Ranch move into the area, because they do not have bad Pizza and they do have a pocket battleship of a great little salad bar, unbelievably good chicken that should have quite a few chicken places nervous, potatoes and gravy and other sides. If a party of five or six goes there and two people don’t really care for the pizza, there’s no way in hell they’re going to leave hungry. My biggest fear is that Pizza Ranch won’t be able to find enough employees that live up to the expectations of Pizza Ranch management. On the other hand, if two failed Denny’s are any indication having management from Kenosha could easily kill a Pizza Ranch.

Better than almost any other places chicken. I think KFC is safe, and Tommy’s restaurant on Sheridan Road turns out some killer chicken but I’m not sure how many other places can compete with Pizza Ranch Chicken.

One thing about Kenosha is the large Italian population and their pizza. I could name several, but Renzos and Infusinos are my go to spots. Honestly can’t remember the last time I ate Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa John’s. Mostly, because the employees are nasty DEI employees that don’t even wash their hands. The others are family owned and operated and actually care about their customers.
You need to put a lot of Ranch on that food to eat it.

Not impressed with the one in Milwaukee, but maybe that’s because it’s in Milwaukee.
One a scale of 1-10, Pizza Ranch is about a 4 for food, service, and quality. Admittedly, I’m not a fan of buffet pig troths and Pizza Ranch is no different.
Just because they have tons of food doesn’t mean you have to eat tons of food, tons of food also means a great selection so when you bring the entire family you are guaranteed to not be wasting your money unless you get seated next to some POS like you. Hopefully you will stay away from the place and all the negative comments from people like you won’t make them reconsider even coming here. If you don’t like a place, but with your wallet not your mouth, before they even open. Don’t you know it’s always been the city’s job to drive new businesses away? The citizens don’t have to join in and help them.

The negative and generally mean comments here show such a lack of intelligence, and it’s sad. Am I the only one who is sick of how many things other cities have including much smaller ones than Kenosha yet they have had things like a farm and fleet/fleet farm or Pizza Ranch for a decade or more well Kenosha goes without? There are absolutely businesses that I would not patronize if they came to Kenosha but I would never badmouth them on a story breaking the news that they were planning on coming because people can absolutely vote with their wallets. No love for Applebee’s? My sweetie and I quit going there a few years ago from mediocre food and worse than mediocre service. Maybe some of the people from Applebee’s would be suitable in the Pizza Ranch environment. Regardless, this city of Kenosha loves to literally f*** with new businesses and make them jump through stupid hoops, so it really doesn’t seem like all those little people should be doing the same thing when we pay good tax money to have City leadership that does it for us.
Eat LOCAL and you’re in the minority, Applebees is SHIT!
