KENOSHA, Wis. — Administrators at Harborside Academy notified families Thursday afternoon that some students may participate in a planned walkout Friday morning in opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
In a message sent to families, school officials said they were made aware that students at Reuther Central High School may be organizing a student walkout at 9:30 a.m. Friday and that some Harborside students could also decide to take part .
School leaders emphasized that classroom instruction will continue as scheduled during the planned time of the walkout. Families were told they may excuse their child’s absence through the Infinite Campus app or by contacting the attendance office either before or after the event.
According to the message, students who participate without being excused will be subject to state attendance laws. Staff will mark students tardy if they arrive late to class following the walkout. Students who leave after class has already begun and return immediately afterward will be marked truant .
Administrators said they hope any students who choose to participate do so “responsibly, respectfully, and safely,” while also asking all students to respect differing opinions. The school plans to have staff supervision in place to ensure safety on campus. However, officials cautioned that students who leave campus or go to Civic Center Park will be unsupervised .
Families with questions were directed to contact the Harborside Academy office.

Hopefully the teachers will actually teach-and tell the students how disappointed they will be if the students protest against people who are trying to get drug dealers, thugs, killers, etc. off the streets.

I happened to be driving past Harborside during the lunch hour. I saw a young person, that I assumed to be a student, walking adjacent to Sheridan Rd. carrying a large flag that clearly read, F _ _ k ICE”.
As a Kenosha County resident, knowing that ~half of my annual Property Tax bill goes to KUSD, I don’t know how I feel about what I saw.
