KENOSHA, Wis. Kenosha County Eye is launching a new monthly program in January 2027 that will recognize local first responders who go above and beyond while raising money for charities that matter to them.
The program, called Heroes Among Us, will recognize one local first responder every month. KCE is currently looking for a local business interested in becoming the program’s exclusive sponsor and donating $500 each month to the honoree’s favorite charity.
Kenosha County Eye will handle the rest.
Each month, KCE will solicit nominations from police chiefs, fire chiefs and EMS leaders throughout Kenosha County. Departments will be asked to nominate someone who demonstrated exceptional service, courage, compassion or dedication to the community.
One person will then be selected as that month’s Heroes Among Us honoree.
Rather than giving the $500 directly to the first responder, the sponsoring business will make the donation to a charity selected by the honoree. That could be a local nonprofit, a veterans organization, a children’s charity, an animal rescue or another charitable organization important to that first responder.
KCE will publish a feature story introducing the community to the honoree and explaining why he or she was nominated.
The monthly presentation will also include a large ceremonial $500 check bearing the name of the charity and the first responder being honored. Representatives from the sponsoring business will be invited to join the honoree for photographs that will accompany the story and be shared on KCE’s social media platforms.
Looking For The Right Local Business
The commitment will be $500 per month, or $6,000 over the course of a full year, with all of that money going to charities selected by the 12 first responders honored during the year.
Kenosha County Eye will provide the reporting, photography, coordination and promotion of the program at no cost to the sponsor.
In return, the participating business will be prominently recognized each month as the exclusive presenting sponsor of Heroes Among Us, giving the company recurring exposure while associating its name with local first responders and charitable organizations.
The goal is to have a sponsor secured well ahead of January so KCE can begin working with local police, fire and EMS agencies and have the first honoree ready when the program launches.
Any local business interested in sponsoring Heroes Among Us can contact Kenosha County Eye for more information.
