Kenosha, Wis. – Former KTEC West science teacher Christian Enwright is facing a civil lawsuit and criminal charges after allegedly grooming a 13-year-old student, later 14, over an eight-month period from June 2023 to February 2024. The lawsuit, filed on May 20, 2024, in Kenosha County Circuit Court, accuses Enwright of manipulating and emotionally abusing the student to establish a future sexual relationship.
The Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD), which originally faced the lawsuit in state court, has requested the case be moved to federal court. Additional defendants have since been named, including school administrators and board members.

Allegations of Grooming and School Negligence
According to the lawsuit, Enwright used Snapchat and TikTok to engage in secretive communication with the student, sending disappearing messages that were allegedly sexual in nature. He also deleted contact records to conceal their exchanges. The lawsuit states that Enwright took private walks with the student, met with her alone in his classroom with the door closed, exchanged gifts and handwritten notes, and displayed photos of the two at his desk.
School officials reportedly ignored multiple red flags, despite concerns being raised months before Enwright’s removal. A former KTEC West principal had warned him about hugging students in winter 2023. In January 2024, a special education teacher alerted school administrators that female students were frequently leaving class to spend time with Enwright in his classroom. Additionally, on January 16, 2024, a parent confronted Enwright on Facebook, urging him to set appropriate boundaries with her daughter.
Delayed Action by School Officials
The lawsuit alleges that KUSD received an anonymous report of inappropriate conduct on February 1, 2024. Assistant Principal Jenn Seivert met with both Enwright and the student, but did not notify the student’s parents.
Rather than immediately contacting law enforcement, school officials reported the matter to the Wisconsin Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) the following day. It was DCFS that ultimately alerted the police.
Enwright was placed on administrative leave on February 2, 2024, yet it wasn’t until May 7, 2024—after public pressure from parents and the community—that the KUSD Board of Education voted to terminate his employment.
Legal Actions: $100 Million Lawsuit and Criminal Charges
The civil lawsuit names KUSD, the Kenosha Unified School District Board of Education, Superintendent Jeffrey Weiss, Human Resources Director Kevin Neir, Principal Scott Hodges, and several assistant principals and deans as defendants. It alleges that their failure to act contributed to the student’s victimization.
The family of the student is seeking $100 million in damages for intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, Title IX violations, and civil rights deprivations under 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
Additionally, Enwright is facing 22 counts of disorderly conduct in a criminal case in Kenosha County related to this conduct. A judge recently denied a motion to dismiss the charges, setting the stage for a potential trial.
KUSD’s Response and Ongoing Investigation
The Kenosha Unified School District has not issued a public statement on the lawsuit. The district may now face increased scrutiny over its handling of teacher misconduct reports and adherence to mandatory reporting laws.
As both the civil lawsuit and criminal case move forward, further legal developments are expected. The scheduling order for the federal case was issued on February 5, 2025 by United States Magistrate Judge Nancy Joseph.

I agree, but as a taxpayer, I have no illusions about who will be paying damages. I’m sure they’ll be a referendum asking for more money for, books. Yeah, that’s it, books.

Don’t get me wrong, I get a kick out of seeing liberals criticized — particularly the libs involved in the “education” system. But “damages”? I might have believed it until I saw the alleged dollar value of those “damages”: a cool $100,000,000.00. Give me a break. Why not just go for a cool billion? Too ambitious? Look, had they sued for something like “$325,000 plus costs and undetermined punitive damages,” I’d be less turned off. But, to steal a word from the liberal elites, the “optics” on this aren’t good.

I’m more realistic amount would do the same thing, especially if we had other news sources in this area that would be willing to splash it over there front pages. This will really just punish property taxpayers and renters who have to pay for it. Maybe they’ll have a referendum asking for more money to pay for damages. Maybe skeletor will send us a big bucket of vote buying cash left over from Uncle Joe’s tenure. We could have a parade down 6th avenue, delivering the money to the mayor’s office, who would then have a motorcade towards the old Wards building fortress of evil.

I agree, a hundred million for what? I mean, if I hang out with bank tellers, and I take walks with them, or take them out to lunch, or text them, or even talk about how much I like money, etc., should I be charged with attempted bank robbery, (also a federal offense)? I’m sorry, this sounds creepy no doubt, but I don’t think we should prosecute for pre-crime.

KUSD has a history of not protecting their students and when things have been brought to their attention, they take zero actions!
1. Cheer coach that was at ITA far longer than she should have been. Knowing girls had drugs on them, but would allow them to still be at practice and involved with the sport.
2. ITA allowing a photographer who took multiple pictures of girls at a dance and then posted pictures of their underwear and up their dresses. He literally still photographs there and does their banners and sports
3. When a teacher or security guard is out of line or caught doing things that are inappropriate, they don’t notify parents until KCE has brought things up publicly!!
Now they want MORE of our money. For what.

This 115 million dollar referendum is starting to make some sense now.
A vote to raise everyone’s property taxes is coming the 18th of this month. Everyone’s property taxes will increase by hundreds of dollars per year because they say even though they have closed schools they are running a deficit. On average for every 5 students there is a KUSD employee. This seems very wasteful. Could this lawsuit be the reason they are wanting to pass a referendum to raise property taxes? Vote NO on February 18th. No reason to have an employee on the payroll for every 5 students.
