(Still From Video)

Somers, Wis. – A Village of Somers resident noticed last week that his garbage and recycling were being collected together by John’s Disposal. This week, anticipating a repeat occurrence, he recorded a video capturing the incident.

The footage shows a John’s Disposal driver picking up the garbage bin and emptying its contents into the truck. Moments later, the driver does the same with the recycling bin, disposing of both waste streams into the same compartment.

The resident shared the video with Kenosha County Eye (KCE), prompting an inquiry into the matter. KCE contacted Village of Somers Administrator Jason Peters, who expressed concern over the incident. Peters stated he would reach out to the disposal company, which is funded by taxpayer dollars, to ensure such actions do not happen again.

KCE also reached out to John’s Disposal for a statement. A company employee acknowledged the complaint and confirmed that the concern had been forwarded to management. The employee clarified that “the driver should not be emptying both at the same time” and that the company would address the situation with the driver.

  1. Remember when Kenosha got busted for this? Back in the blue bag days? Cities virtue signal to get them state & federal funds, then don’t change a thing.

  2. I have witnessed Kenosha waste pickup doing the same thing… The same truck that picked up all of the recyclables on my street turned around at the end-of-the-block and came back to pick up all of the waste cans.

Prior to 2018 China would buy recycled materials from other countries. China has since banned inporting waste materials which left waste management companies looking for alternative solutions.

A dirty secret is the most cost effective alternative is to just not have actual recycling programs. I’ve heard from city employees that Kenosha eventually just dumps it all together now with limited to zero sorting of materials.

I am a daily reader and first time commenter here. I feel blessed to have Kevin and this news outlet here in my hometown.

    1. I’ve heard Pleasant Prairie isn’t any different. Maybe when Eric Meadows is voted in as President of Pleasant Prairie and Matthew Henby is voted in as trustee #3, we can see more transparency and good changes in Pleasant Prairie!

  3. Recycling is a big scam everywhere and not just the two
that are mentioned here. Much of it just goes in the landfill.
Just ask yourselves… Have you ever seen a building where all this
    recycling is supposedly done?
I’d like to know the location.

  4. Having “recycling” programs gets municipalities aid and makes people feel good. Dirty little secret is that it goes right into the landfill.

Other government hoaxes that cause brain rot and steal your tax dollars through education/indoctrination system:
    – Moon landing

      1. …the ones who don’t “die suddenly” you mean.
The smart ones, you know- critical thinkers.

  5. Better things to complain about in life. Recycling is a scam. Go sit outside GFL landfill in Zion or Pheasant Run in Paris and you will see how many local cities and other “recycling” companies dump recyclables into the landfill. You would be amazed at the things you see being dumped at these landfills. Recyclables is the least of y’all’s problems!!!

    1. In order to recycle something, like plastic bottles for example, they ALL have to be made up from the same chemical compound. Which they are not, so they end up in a landfill. It is a joke and a billion dollar scam.

  6. Recycling scam makes liberals feel better, but in the end more fuel is wasted keeping the illusion going. But liberals feeling better about themselves is the true goal.

    8
    1
  7. News Flash to the Naive: If you do some homework and read, you will learn that most recyclables are not recycled. If your sour, nearly empty mayonnaise jar is on the same conveyor with water bottles, boxes and etc. — it all gets routed to trash. If a strand of “recyclable” Christmas lights is in the bin with a bunch of paper — it all goes into the trash. There is no possible way to clean out all of the crap people toss into recycling bins. If your tomato sauce leaks onto cardboard in the bin – trash. It is about virtue signaling. It is about obtaining a stream of federal money. If trucks are backed up in the line at the landfill, guess what? They get routed to the shortest line and it all gets dumped. It’s not difficult to turn away from the daily feed on the phone to do some actual research.

  8. Dirty little secret, every recycling program costs significantly more money than if we just combined all trash. That has been proven over and over again for the past few decades. Yet we continue to do it because of some low information, low intellect BUT very vocal morons think it will “save the world”.

BTW, according to those Algore hoax believers, the world was supposed to end sometime back in 2000…

    5
    2
  9. Is there a way to actually get concrete documentation/evidence that would show what goes to the landfill from a town and what is actually recycled? If there really isn’t recycling being done, I want to get rid of me paying for it!

  10. Am I the only one who noticed that both the cans were dark colored? My recycling can is blue (live in Kenosha) Maybe (just another point of view) the driver thought both the cans were full of garbage?
