Kenosha, Wis. – A group of parents at Washington Middle School within the Kenosha Unified School District (KUSD) are voicing their outrage after learning that one of their children’s teachers, Alyssa L. Jurasik, 24, has a criminal record involving drug-related offenses. Despite being placed on paid administrative leave on February 21, 2025, following inquiries by Kenosha County Eye (KCE), Jurasik is set to return to the classroom on Monday, March 17, 2025—fueling even greater frustration among parents.
Jurasik’s Criminal History
Jurasik’s legal troubles date back to February 24, 2023, when she was charged with serious drug-related offenses, including Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place On or Near a Park, Possession With Intent to Deliver THC, and Possession of Narcotic Drugs On or Near Certain Places. Had she been convicted of all charges, she could have faced nearly 30 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, Jurasik was linked to a major narcotics operation at a residence in Kenosha. A U.S. Postal Service inspector alerted the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department (KSD) to a suspicious package originating from Las Vegas, NV, and addressed to Jurasik’s fiancé, Christian Melendez. The package, which emitted a strong odor of marijuana, led authorities to uncover extensive evidence of drug distribution, including text messages between Jurasik and Melendez discussing sales, payments, and drug shipments.
Authorities discovered over 560 grams of marijuana and other controlled substances in their residence, as well as drug paraphernalia and a loaded firearm. Digital forensic analysis of Melendez’s phone revealed conversations between him and Jurasik detailing drug transactions and attempts to ship narcotics across state lines.
One particularly disturbing text exchange revealed that Jurasik believed one of her customers had overdosed and died. In a message to Melendez, Jurasik wrote, “A kid at Carthage OD’d last night and it was one of my customers. I’m doing great.” Melendez responded by asking what the person overdosed on and if she was okay, to which Jurasik replied, “The amount of drugs I’ve done should have killed me, but like, it killed my friend instead. I just don’t understand why it happens.”
Despite the weight of the evidence, the Kenosha County District Attorney’s office, led by then-DA Mike Graveley (D), allowed Jurasik to take a plea deal. She pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges: Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of THC, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Judge Gerad Dougvillo sentenced her to just one year of probation, which she is still serving.

KUSD Responds
In response to KCE’s inquiry, KUSD confirmed Jurasik’s return to Washington Middle School but provided no information about how the decision was made.
At KUSD, it isn’t uncommon for teachers who commit crimes to keep their jobs. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) hasn’t responded to multiple inquiries.

So they fire a teacher for controlling a little brat but they keep this one on payroll who killed a kid, WTF is wrong with KUSD?
I think you can get rid of the “alleged,” part of the drug dealer, she pled guilty.
These charges are job related and they can and should fire her.
That’s why too many parents have lost their faith in that School System. Always unreasonably unfair and beyond corrupt ! Would you trust this school system with your Children ?? We know there is integrity and characters issues within that School District
better high than molesting the children… #setherfree
