Kenosha, Wis. — A 56-year-old Kenosha man is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend, choking her and striking her in the face hard enough to require stitches and cause temporary vision loss.
Allen S. Meyer was charged in Kenosha County Circuit Court with substantial battery, strangulation and suffocation, and disorderly conduct — all with domestic abuse enhancers. The alleged attack occurred on March 21 at Meyer’s upper unit residence on 17th Avenue. He made his initial court appearance on Monday, where Court Commissioner William Michel II set cash bail at $1,500. As of Tuesday, Meyer remained in custody at the Kenosha County Jail.
According to the criminal complaint, a passerby called 911 after a woman, later identified as the victim, reportedly asked for help and appeared to be bleeding from the face. When Kenosha Police arrived, they encountered the woman with a two-inch gash between her eyes, a dark purple bruise around her right eye, and signs of other trauma. She told officers that Meyer, her boyfriend, had attacked her during a heated argument inside their shared bedroom.
The woman alleged that Meyer, who she believed had been using crack cocaine, began yelling at her before grabbing her by the throat and choking her to the point where she couldn’t breathe. When she attempted to fight back, Meyer allegedly threw her off the bed and continued to strangle her on the floor. At some point, Meyer either threw or used an object to strike her in the face, causing her to briefly lose consciousness and temporarily lose vision in her right eye. According to her statement, Meyer said, “I f***ed you up,” before leaving the residence.
The woman was treated at Aurora Medical Center and received stitches for the laceration. A forensic strangulation exam was also conducted.
Officers responding to the scene noted visible bloodstains on the bedding, floor, and other parts of the apartment. A window curtain, previously hung in the bedroom, had been torn down.
If convicted on all charges, Meyer faces a maximum sentence of 9 years and 9 months in prison and $21,000 in fines. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.

The laws are meaningless without hard jail sentences. And even those sentences are not deterrents if the public doesn’t know about them.
I like the thought of a Woman Beater Registry, sort of like a Sex Offender Registry. Expose these POS for what they are.
