Kenosha, Wis. — A Kenosha woman stands accused of abusing a 73-year-old man at a local care facility where she worked, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kenosha County Circuit Court.

Jahnix A. Medina, 27, was charged with one count of physical abuse of an elder person, intentionally causing bodily harm, a Class H felony. If convicted, she faces up to six years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.

According to the complaint, officers from the Kenosha Police Department responded to Water’s Edge, 3415 Sheridan Road, on April 21 after a report of a physical altercation. Staff members told police that Medina, a certified nursing assistant, pushed a male resident—who suffers from dementia and Parkinson’s disease—causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the floor.

Another CNA, who witnessed the incident, reported that Medina pushed the resident with both hands in the chest with enough force that he traveled about 10 feet before falling. Witnesses said blood was seen coming from the resident’s head after the fall, and Medina allegedly told another staff member not to report what happened, claiming the resident “fell from the chair.”

Medina denied intentionally pushing the resident when speaking with police but allegedly changed her story slightly after further questioning. Another employee at Water’s Edge reported that Medina had been verbally abusive toward the resident throughout the day.

The man was treated for a bleeding laceration to the back of his head at Aurora Hospital before being returned to the care facility. Officers noted that he was incoherent and unable to communicate when they attempted to interview him after the incident.

Medina made her initial court appearance on April 22, 2025. Kenosha County Court Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $3,000 cash, which Medina posted the same day.

Medina waived her preliminary hearing on April 25 and is scheduled to appear in court again on June 18.

        1. The bantering back and forth on this post and the lack of immature commenting here only making her look more guilty. Not a good look at all and if her attorney is so good and knew about this, he would advise all of you to give it a rest and just see what proof will show.

          11
          1. Maybe they have cameras at the nursing home. That would help. I know some family members don’t like cameras in Nursing Homes, but I think it really would help solve these kind of issues.

              1. Not true about going against DHS having security cameras in Long term care facilities.Waters edge have then as you enter , in the lobby area and hall ways. They’re not in any of the residents rooms.

              2. Page 4 of the attached link specifies in what areas of nursing homes recording devices are allowed. https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/memos/16-001.pdf That is where the nursing home itself can install cameras.

I checked with the Department of Health Services just a few days ago asking if it would be legal for my mother to have a camera in her assisted living apartment (no roommate). They emailed me back that yes, it is legal to do that.

              3. My father is in a nursing home and I have a camera in his room. And there are cameras all over the facility.

            1. Absolutely!!! Elder abuse happens way too often and I can’t understand the mentality of someone who would harm a helpless human being! Where is the compassion on this planet

          1. You are a piece of shit. Are you a street thug? Your “speak” is so asinine. If you are part of this country’s future we just need to pull the plug.

            2
            1. Totsy go fuck yourself …! 🤣🤣🤣 the country needed to pull the plug when you was born ..!🤣🤣🤣

      2. The problem here is that CNA’s don’t have a code of silence like both street gangs and the police have. She could have gotten away with beating that elderly man if the other CNA just would have kept her mouth shut.

        1
        2
        1. I believe they are mandated reporters; in other words if they see something, they are required to report it or they could be penalized themselves.

        1. Yeah that would be nice but the state has regulations regarding the use of cams in nursing homes, CBRFs, assisted living and other types of care facilities. I know even in common areas cams aren’t allowed due to concerns forresidents privacy and captured conversations. State claims this even in med room, common areas, smoking and hallways areas.

You would think that cams provide a great opportunity for protecting both resident and staff but state says otherwise.

          2
          2
          1. There should be a petition to have that changed and require at least some type of monitoring in nursing homes.
There was a woman I knew and her mom was at a Nursing Home in Kenosha. Her daughter put a camera in her moms room and was able to monitor her mom all the time while she was in her own private room and the care she was getting. The nurses and cnas complained and the head nurse turned the camera off. So, I don’t believe it’s for the privacy of the patient. I believe it’s to protect the Nurses and CNAs from what they don’t want you to see.

            1. That is bullshit on the nursing home’s part. Wisconsin allows residents to install cameras in their own room. I’d tell the staff be happy, it also protects you from any unfounded accusations of misconduct.

          2. If you’ve ever walked through Brookside, you’ll notice cameras in all the hallways. As with Waters edge. Upon entry, lobby and hallways. The DON has all the monitors in her office.

      1. You need to take classes, test at the class, do an in person demonstration of multiple tasks with countless steps to pass the state demonstration of knowledge exam and then take a written state exam and you must pass with a certain grade or no license for you. There’s about 20 different care tasks with 15-20 in depth steps for each all of which need to be memorized step by step and demonstrated in order. You don’t know ahead of time which tasks will be asked of you so no, not just anyone can get it. You actually have to have brain cells in your head.

        1. LOL! It’s NOT a license. You get “CERTIFIED” Not LICENSED. I’ve been through that class and have done more with being hired as a private care giver than ANY CNA does in a Nursing Home! You keep telling yourself how hard it is to pass that test lol! Maybe because schools don’t educate people like they should any longer, it IS harder to pass the test because people graduating schools have a 4/5 grade reading and math level! So yeah…maybe for YOU, it IS harder, but you DONT get LICENSED, you get CERTIFIED. It’s basic care as a CNA, nothing major. Let’s call it what it is, not make it out to be some kind of medical license!! Good grief!

      1. You seem to me like you know a lot about beating the meat 🍖….🤣🤣🤣 so much both arms hurt 🤣🤣🤣 weather your a lefty or a righty… you beat that meat so much …! 🤣🤣🤣 shit give that meat a break baby I bet that meat tender than a mother fucker 🤣🤣🤣

      1. I bet that was your thumbs down Quentin J … 🤣🤣🤣 you sad 😔 now ….!🤣🤣🤣 your so miserably lonely in this world you need to use your internet thumb to make you feel better …. You Wendy’s working ass loser …!🤣🤣🤣 loser 🤣🤣🤣

    1. 1. I KNOW what’s required and no, not rocket science to pass the test. There is basic care that you need to know to be a CNA, and they are usually the ones that do all the “dirty work” but that DOESN’T require any license. It’s a certification. CNA…certified nursing assistant….

        1. One must be Registered as a certified nursing aid on the registry maintained by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Registered, not licensed.

  3. This is disgusting! I hope they give her some much needed jail time and lotsofit!!!
She should be ashamed of herself.😔😔
These people depend upon us to take good care of them as they can’t take care of themselves anymore!
Most of them have already given up their homes, their vehicles, they’re Independence, can you imagine taking care of yourself your whole life and then to be put in a facility because you can no longer do it! And then for someone like you to come along and do what you did tp thos poor man! I hope you get a lot of time for it! I have no sympathy for a person like you. Karma’s a bitch and one day you’re going to see yours!!

  4. $3,000 cash bail for physically abusing an elderly man with dementia and Parkinson’s disease?! Kevin, please tell me this is a typo and there’s a missing zero in the dollar amount. If not, what an absolute joke of a Kenosha County judicial system once again.

    29

    1. Court Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $3,000 cash, which Medina posted the same day. What a joke that’s walking around money for these upstanding turds.

      17
      1
    2. I’m not 100% sure, but sometimes I think they go by what kind of assets you have to determine the bail. Also, I believe there is a financial limit by law what the judge can impose on someone.

  5. They do have video cameras in the halls and I believe common areas in that facility. So I’m sure it’s on video. I work in healthcare with the elderly and dementia residents and THIS is unacceptable. Lock her up.

    11
    1
  6. So and elderly person is only worth 3 grand? That bond should have been way for for that BS! She could have killed him.

    13
    1
  7. If you think she’s going to jail, brace yourself. She’s going to get useless probation and even if she screws up, they’re not revoking it. Again, she’s not going to do jail time. Lower your expectations.

  8. I’m thankful that the other CNA reported her. She did the right thing! Please never let anyone get away with this type of behavior, ever! Our seniors deserve better care than this. Many times they don’t Have people to come check on them, it’s our duty to step up arms protect them!

    13
  9. She should lose here CNA liscense and never be able ro get another one. She needs to be met in a dark alley and know how it feels to be mistreated!

    1. Maybe you need to be met in a dark alley … say who you are anonymous….! Big words behind an anonymous internet post … scary ass 🤣🤣🤣 I can believe I’m always 10 toes down ready for a dark alley…. Are you …? Scary B**** …! 🤣🤣🤣 say who you are ….!

      1. You need to educate yourself perhaps on the English language. You sound illiterate and just plain dumb. I hope you trip in that dark alley and fall on your stupid face.

  10. If you don’t know her and believe everything you read your a dumb ass she was wrongfully accused and the lady that she helped with the residence was lieing and she switched her story four times and there’s proof the other woman working with her did it and not my niece ,so to all you ignorant bitches that are bullying and slandering my niece need to back off because she has a lot of family that has her back.and she’s came to far in her life to allow anyone destroy her character, I’m reading yaw comments and your no better than the co worker that lied to protect her own fat ass. 1. Thats the best you got? You are really showing your lack of integrity and intelligence. If you care anything about this girl you should silence yourself and not dig a deeper hole for her. You are not helping.

    2. Aaaaaaaaaaahahahaha… that’s f*cking rich, you’re as dumb as she is.
Good luck with that victim mentality, time will tell.

          work
and ………………identify who the fathers are of all their snot nosed crusty ass kids

    1. That’s right. Stick up for the CRIMINAL instead of the poor victim. Your comments are sick. Your niecy gets her filthy language from you. That nursing home should have never hired her in the 1st place & all they had to do was look on her FB page to see just what she is all about.🤢 It’s Ignorant for you to threaten to sue people bc you don’t like the comments. No one ruined her name . She did that !

  11. Now if only she’d get the six years but I’m sure she will just get probation and move on to another care facility.

  12. Anonymous p and who ever else you are cowards for even commenting on this post not knowing facts make you a coward and a bully and bored with your lives that your trolling this article not knowing facts. 1
    9
    1. It’s a good thing She has a good lawyer because she will need one if Cameras come out with footage proving that she did this.

    2. We all know one thing is fact, your dumb ass bitches definitely went to KUSD. I feel dumber after reading your comments.

  15. First off CNA stands for certified nursing assistant, not any type of license. If she’s found guilty her name will be listed a the state registry and she will not be allowed to work as a CNA in any State Facility.

Let’s see what the videos show, as W.E does have cameras in common areas. Guessing her lawyer is T.R, good luck. They do have some pretty good CNAs at W.E and done not so good.Lets wait and see where she falls into.

    1. It’s REGISTERED, not licensed and it’s the Wisconsin certified nurse aid Registry, maintained by the Department of Health Services. And a clean criminal background check must be maintained to get or maintain one’s registration. Certification is just one of several requirements to be registered.

  16. What a disgusting piece of garbage she is. She needs to be locked up and the key needs to be thrown away

  17. Yes Certified Nursing assistants do carry a license with whatever state the license was issued. But you are correct, if she is found guilty the board of licensing will put a violation against her and hopefully pull her from that registry so she is not allowed to care for any type of human. And the family comments, obviously she is unable to take care of herself mentally so it doesnt sound as if she has any compassion required to care for human beings.

    1
    1
  18. What’s new . 4 somers board members tried to get into brookside and get money from my mom. Got them recorded. Not naming name mr stoner

  19. BTW there’s a nurse at Waters edge that at one time or could still be doing side job for the defendant’s attorney Terry Rose , would that be a conflict of interest?

  20. Those who abuse defensless children, the elderly and pets are the lowest scum of all.
Solis will do his job the punish them, will Kenosha “Judges”?

  21. It sounds like the whole nursing home should be investigated. This shouldn’t happen when they spend all their money for their care. Also do you know how stupid it is to use all those emojis?

  22. Well, they obviously have a meaningless and filthy vocabulary so that is about all they know. Im almost feeling sorry for the girl because she obviously grew up around a huge amount of disfunction. You are what you eat and im not talking about food!

  23. This lady and the people defending her are the scum of the earth. If you all died tomorrow the world would be a better place. You are a drain on society. Ask yourselves what you actually positively contribute to society? i bet the list isn’t very long.

  24. That bitch needs to be in jail. There is no two sides to the story. in her job position and working at a care facility. It doesn’t matter what these older people do. Your job is to help them out, not push them down and bust their head open, bitch needs to stay her ass in jail. I actually hope one of his kids/grandkids comes around and finds that bitch and beats her ass down like the dog she is cause I know I would do it if it was my father.
