Kenosha, Wis. — Chad R. Ebert, 34, remains in the Kenosha County Jail after his arrest this past Saturday on a bench warrant issued for failing to appear in court. Ebert faces multiple criminal charges stemming from a violent altercation with his elderly father, and is scheduled to return to court on June 3, 2025.
According to a criminal complaint filed on March 17, Ebert was charged with felony physical abuse of an elder person—recklessly causing bodily harm, along with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and resisting an officer. The charges arise from a March 14 domestic incident at a home on Washington Road in Kenosha.
Police responded to a report of a family fight and encountered a visibly injured 69-year-old man bleeding from both arms, with additional bruising and abrasions on his face, chest, and back. Officers say the injuries were consistent with a violent physical struggle.
Witnesses told police that the altercation began after an argument escalated inside a vehicle and later continued inside the home. The older man alleged that Chad Ebert tackled him, pinned him down, scratched and struck him, and continued the assault outside on the rear deck and in the backyard. Officers documented a blood trail throughout the house and porch, and noted that the victim’s wounds were still bleeding the following day despite being bandaged.
The complaint states that Ebert resisted arrest, ignoring commands to comply and grabbing an officer’s vest during the struggle. Officers were ultimately able to subdue him using physical force. He was transported to the Kenosha County Jail, where he reportedly made suicidal statements. Jail staff were notified of his condition, and no further questioning occurred at the time.
Following his arrest, Ebert was released on a signature bond. But when he failed to appear for a scheduled court hearing on April 2, Court Commissioner William Michel II issued a bench warrant and set a $2,500 cash bail. Ebert was arrested on April 26 and remains in custody.
If convicted on all counts, Ebert faces up to 5 years and 3 months of incarceration and fines totaling more than $21,000. The felony charge alone carries a maximum sentence of 3 years and 6 months.
His next appearance in Kenosha County Circuit Court is set for June 3.

Although that’s true… this instance.. it wasn’t the old man. His dad was doing nothing but trying to help him get home from drinking all day.
His parents have been doing nothing but trying to help him get mental help, and he refuses to admit that he has a problem. They are hoping that tough love and his staying in jail and getting court-mandated therapy and medical intervention will get him on the right track. The family loves him but is over him, not seeing that he has a mental disorder that can be treated. Hopefully, this is a wake-up call for him.
