KENOSHA, Wis. – A Kenosha man already facing charges in two pending criminal cases appeared in court again Monday after being arrested May 2 for allegedly inflicting severe injuries on a woman in a series of domestic assaults.

Mike Saleh Haswah, 41—who legally changed his name from Mohammed Haswah to Mike Haswah in 2019—was given a $50,000 cash bail by Court Commissioner William Michel II. The commissioner also dismissed three of the charges filed against Haswah—counts 5, 6, and 7—citing clerical defects. However, Assistant District Attorney Sarah Norkus stated in court that her office intends to re-file those charges.

Haswah appeared in court as the alleged victim sat nearby with visible bruising and wounds to her face and neck. Prosecutors say she suffered extensive trauma, including a swollen and off-center nose, bruising beneath both eyes, and visible belt-shaped marks on her neck.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman told police that on April 25, Haswah allegedly approached her from behind with a belt, wrapped it around her neck, and strangled her until she lost consciousness. She reported continued neck pain and difficulty swallowing days later.

In a second incident just days later, Haswah allegedly called his 16-year-old son into the room, told him to “watch this,” and punched the woman in the face with a closed fist. The impact caused her nose to gush blood, left her dazed and disoriented, and resulted in severe facial injuries. According to her statement, Haswah’s son then attempted to clean up the blood and apologized for what his father had done.

When police later contacted Haswah’s son, he denied seeing any violence and claimed the woman already had a black eye when she arrived. But detectives noted that the injuries were consistent with her account and inconsistent with the son’s version of events.

Haswah is charged in this latest case (2025CF000605) with:

  • Strangulation and suffocation with use of a dangerous weapon (Class H felony)
  • Substantial battery with use of a dangerous weapon (Class I felony)
  • First-degree reckless injury (Class D felony)
  • Aggravated battery (Class E felony)
  • Intimidation of a victim (Class G felony)
  • Felony and misdemeanor bail jumping

The three dismissed charges are expected to be re-filed. At the time of his arrest, Haswah was already free on bond in two other Kenosha County cases.

In the first (2024CM000600), he is accused of kicking his wife in the stomach during an argument. That case includes charges of battery and disorderly conduct, both with domestic abuse enhancers. He posted a $750 cash bond and was ordered not to commit any new crimes.

In the second (2024CF1500), Haswah faces serious drug and weapons charges after authorities say they recovered cocaine, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, and THC products from his residence. The drugs were allegedly discovered in areas accessible to children, including a loaded pistol in his vehicle and narcotics in an unsecured bedroom closet. He was released on a reduced $20,000 bond in that case.

Haswah is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on May 13.If convicted on all counts across all three cases, Haswah faces over 70 years in prison.

  1. For the safety of the women and children around him, I hope he’s locked up a long time. There are few such clear examples of a scourge on society and a danger to others.
