KENOSHA, Wis. — A Kenosha teen is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly attacking the mother of his child in a violent domestic incident earlier this month. The suspect, 18-year-old Alan Jared Munoz, was charged Monday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with strangulation and suffocation, battery, and disorderly conduct — all with domestic abuse enhancers.

According to the criminal complaint, Kenosha police officers responded to Munoz’s apartment on May 10 for a report of a family disturbance. There, they found the alleged victim, who was visibly upset and had red, bleeding marks on her hand, as well as scratches and injuries to her face and neck. She told officers she lived with Munoz and that they share a child, though the child was not present during the incident.
The woman said the argument began when Munoz took her phone, prompting her to move his gaming monitor in retaliation. Munoz then allegedly pulled her by the hair, swung her around, threw her to the ground, pinned her arms with his knees, and slammed her head into the kitchen floor multiple times. She later disclosed that Munoz placed his hand on her throat and applied pressure, making it difficult for her to breathe. Police documented three dark red marks on her neck consistent with strangulation.
The woman told police Munoz strangled her twice and only stopped when he realized she could not breathe. She also said she was initially reluctant to disclose the strangulation because she did not want him to get in trouble.
Munoz admitted to a verbal argument and acknowledged taking the woman’s phone, but claimed she became physically aggressive and they pushed each other, eventually falling to the floor.
Officers noted additional evidence consistent with a physical altercation, including a red mark on the woman’s cheek and a garbage bag containing her hair. She later underwent a forensic nurse examination at a hospital.
Court Commissioner William Michel II set Munoz’s cash bail at $2,000. He is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on May 16.
If convicted on all counts, Munoz faces a maximum penalty of more than six years in prison.
