SALEM LAKES, Wis. – A 29-year-old Antioch, Illinois man is accused of making terrorist threats after allegedly telling his ex-girlfriend he planned to “spray down” the Salem Lakes bar where she was working — a message she and law enforcement interpreted as a threat of gun violence.
Jake C. Wenzel posted a $7,500 cash bond on Monday, nearly five weeks after a warrant for his arrest was signed by Kenosha County Court Commissioner William Michel II. His initial court appearance is set for June 11.
According to a criminal complaint filed April 28, the threats were made through Snapchat messages on April 23. Wenzel’s ex-girlfriend, who was bartending at Hawg Heaven on Antioch Road at the time, told deputies the two had been in an ongoing dispute that began on April 20 and escalated to threats of violence on the 23rd.
In one message, Wenzel allegedly told the woman, “I’m spraying down your work,” and followed with “Nigga I’m coming. I’m not scared of u or ur hillbilly friends. Ur bout to find out.” He also shared his location through the app, which showed him at or just outside the bar. The woman, who appeared visibly scared when speaking with deputies, said she believed Wenzel intended to carry out a shooting. Roughly 10 customers were inside the bar at the time.
Deputies responded to the scene but were unable to locate Wenzel.
The complaint charges him with one felony count of making terrorist threats and one misdemeanor count of sending a threatening computerized message, both with repeater enhancers due to his prior felony convictions.
Wenzel has a criminal record in Kenosha County that includes a 2021 conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to deliver amphetamine. He is currently on felony parole.
Under Wisconsin law, the base penalty for making terrorist threats as a repeater is up to 7.5 years in prison. The misdemeanor threat via computer message, also enhanced by his repeat offender status, carries up to two years.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident, and prosecutors cited both eyewitness testimony and digital records in support of the charges. Assistant District Attorney Timothy Martin signed the complaint.
Wenzel is scheduled to appear in Kenosha County Circuit Court on June 11 for his initial appearance.

Considering the source of the complaint I wouldn’t trust anything that comes out of her mouth. She’s a troubled girl.
Baby mama is a cokehead who is trying to ruin his life because she is crazy and he doesn’t want to be with her. This girl is far from a reliable source. She barely goes home to her children, because she too busy drinking, doing drugs, and finding someone to bend her over.
