PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. – A 35-year-old Pleasant Prairie man is facing a misdemeanor charge after police say he was caught driving drunk with two small children in the back seat and an open can of Modelo beer beside him.
Jorge Micheal Rodriguez was formally charged Tuesday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence — first offense — with a minor child in the vehicle. He is due back in court August 1 for a pretrial conference.
According to the criminal complaint, Pleasant Prairie Police Officer Lee observed a vehicle driving without headlights on at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, near Sheridan Road. During the stop, Officer Lee identified Rodriguez as the driver and noticed an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.
Two children, ages 4 and under, were allegedly seated in the back without proper restraints. One child was reportedly being held in a passenger’s lap. Officers also noted a 24-ounce can of Modelo beer in the center console that was cold to the touch and still contained alcohol. Rodriguez allegedly admitted the beer was his but claimed he hadn’t been drinking recently.
Rodriguez’s speech was described as slurred and his eyes bloodshot, according to the complaint. When asked to perform field sobriety tests, Rodriguez refused, prompting officers to arrest him. A blood sample was taken for evidentiary purposes, but lab results were not yet available at the time of the charging.
The adult passenger, who had not been drinking, reportedly blew a 0.155 on a preliminary breath test. She and the two children were given a ride home by officers.
If convicted, Rodriguez faces up to six months in jail, a fine between $350 and $1,100, and a mandatory driver’s license revocation of up to 18 months due to the presence of a minor in the vehicle.
