KENOSHA, Wis. – The man accused of looting a Kenosha liquor store during the 2020 riots is now facing a second felony charge—this time for failing to appear in court after being released without posting any money.

(Kenosha County Sheriff)
Davonte M. Musgrove-Miller, 27, appeared in court for the second day in a row on Wednesday and was charged with felony bail jumping. The new charge stems from his failure to appear in court on July 15, 2021, in his original burglary case. At that time, he had been released on a signature bond—no cash required—by then-Court Commissioner Larry Keating.
Musgrove-Miller was finally arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning after more than three years on the run. At his initial appearance that day, Court Commissioner William Michel II set cash bail at $1,000, despite prosecutors requesting a much higher amount given the seriousness of the charges and the length of his fugitive status.
On Wednesday, Michel presided over Musgrove-Miller again for the new felony bail jumping charge. Prosecutors again asked for a significant bond, but Michel set bail at just $500—half of what he ordered the day before.
The original burglary charge is tied to the looting of the Cellar Door liquor store on August 23, 2020, during the height of the Kenosha riots. Police said Musgrove-Miller and others threw bricks through the front door and windows, entered the store, and began stealing bottles of liquor. Officers arrived on scene and captured Musgrove-Miller fleeing the building. Surveillance video later confirmed his involvement. The store’s owner estimated the damages at $3,100, not including the stolen inventory.
Now facing two open felony cases, Musgrove-Miller could be sentenced to up to 12 years and 6 months for the burglary and another 6 years for bail jumping. He is due back in court on July 18 for a preliminary hearing.
