KENOSHA, Wis. — A 21-year-old Kenosha man with a violent felony record was charged Thursday with false imprisonment, battery, and disorderly conduct in a domestic abuse case that left a woman with visible injuries and prompted two bystanders to call 911.
Gage M. Millsaps, previously convicted of robbery by use of force and intimidation of a victim, appeared in court and was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail. He is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 23.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the 6700 block of 26th Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on July 10. Officers found Millsaps and the woman in a basement. She had a swollen, bruised eye, as well as bruises and fresh scratch marks on her neck, arms, and wrist.
The woman told officers that she and Millsaps were arguing while walking to a nearby convenience store. She said he grabbed her shoulder hard enough to leave nail marks. When two women driving past asked if she was okay, Millsaps allegedly yelled at them and called them “old bitches” before they drove off.
Once back at the house, the woman said she tried to lock herself in the bathroom, but the door didn’t secure properly. Millsaps allegedly followed her in, locked the door, and refused to let her leave. He then pushed her, causing her to hit her face on the windowsill.
One witness told police she saw Millsaps yelling at the woman and then grab her by the neck and punch her in the back of the head. Another caller reported hearing the woman scream, “oww, oww, you’re hurting me,” followed by a man shouting, “I’m not going anywhere, I love you.”
Millsaps denied any physical violence but admitted they had a verbal disagreement. Officers noted that he had scratches on his neck and an irritated cheek.
Because of his prior felony convictions in 2021, the charges include repeater enhancers that could significantly increase his potential prison sentence if convicted. Millsaps served three years in prison following those earlier convictions.
