Kenosha Man Accused of Possessing Child Pornography Held on $100K Bail

KENOSHA, Wis. — A 31-year-old Kenosha man was charged Friday with four felony counts of possessing child pornography and six related misdemeanors, including three counts of bail jumping. A Kenosha County court commissioner ordered him held on $100,000 cash bail.

Joseph C. Mazurek appeared in court after being arrested earlier this week. Assistant District Attorney Drew Burgoyne requested the six-figure bail, which was granted by Court Commissioner William Michel II. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 6.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators with the Kenosha Police Department and DeKalb County, Illinois, linked Mazurek to multiple online accounts that allegedly contained illicit images and videos of underage girls. Authorities say one Snapchat account, “bakedalltheway,” was associated with a Kenosha residence where Mazurek was staying and contained two sexually explicit videos of girls believed to be minors.

Additional content was reportedly discovered through a CyberTip from Yahoo involving another account, “fncmonkey94,” dating back to 2020. Investigators allege that two photos obtained from that tip also meet the legal definition of child pornography.

During a July 30 search of Mazurek’s apartment, officers reported finding marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and items seen in the Snapchat videos. He was charged with two new misdemeanors for those items and four counts of bail jumping for violating the conditions of a previous bond set in October 2024, when he was charged in a separate case with possessing THC and a glass pipe.

If convicted of all counts, Mazurek faces up to 100 years in prison on the felony charges alone. He remains in custody pending next week’s court hearing.

      It states multiple times he lives in Kenosha.
      By state law, people convicted of sex crimes when released from prison will be returned to live in the communities they lived in at the time of their arrest and or conviction.
      I’m not sure if all these felons when released are required to stay in the state but it seems that way.
      And if they are required stay in Wisconsin then I guess they should be returned to the community from where they came. Not to punish that community but to prevent others communities from having to accept these felons in their community.
      I’m guessing by knowing who these felons are gives us knowledge as we see them in our daily lives.

      Should we have a better system of keeping these people in jail longer ? Sure. But until that system is decided, we get them back from where they came from.

      To continue to bash on Salem is fine, but every community has this issue. Furthermore, Salem has elections for half the board every year. Feel free to run for office ! At no time in recent past has there been a call for change of this board. Of course except for the last time. Change is constant.
      Anyone wanting to run has a better than even chance to get elected.
