KENOSHA, Wis. – A 61-year-old Kenosha man is facing a felony charge after police say he struck a bicyclist while driving drunk Saturday afternoon, leaving the victim with severe injuries.

Jeffery W. Bradshaw was charged Monday in Kenosha County Circuit Court with operating while intoxicated causing injury, a second and subsequent offense, which is a Class H felony. Prosecutors said additional and more serious charges like OWI 4th are likely once further investigation is complete.
Bradshaw did not attend Monday’s hearing in person. He is currently in the hospital due to injuries sustained during the crash. The victim’s wife appeared on his behalf, telling the court he is hospitalized in critical condition following the crash. She said he suffered a broken leg, multiple facial lacerations she described as “unrepairable,” and other injuries that will require both plastic surgery and orthopedic surgery on his foot, ankle, and leg.
She told the court her husband is a “pretty tough” man, but “in so much pain” that he could not make it to court. “Had that been a woman or a child, they wouldn’t be here today,” she said, adding that the injuries will prevent him from working for the foreseeable future, leaving her to care for their three children alone. She also said she has photos showing the extent of the injuries if the court wished to see them.
According to the criminal complaint, Kenosha police were dispatched around 4:25 p.m. Saturday to the 2200 block of 52nd Street for a crash involving a car and an electric bicycle. When officers arrived, they found the bicyclist sitting on the sidewalk with his face “completely bloody” and his bike heavily damaged.
The driver of the silver Honda Accord, identified as Bradshaw, told police he had been traveling northbound on 22nd Avenue when he saw the bicyclist ride into the intersection. He said he had a green light but was unable to stop in time.
Officer Kreuser noted Bradshaw’s glassy eyes and a light odor of alcohol. Bradshaw admitted to having four beers earlier in the day at Flint’s Inn, with his last drink around 1 p.m. He allegedly performed poorly on multiple field sobriety tests before being arrested. A blood draw was taken, but test results were not yet available.
Police also interviewed witnesses, including one who said the bicyclist went through a red light just before being struck. The victim later confirmed to officers at the hospital that he had entered the intersection against the light, explaining that the signal changed quickly and he was wiping sweat from his eye at the time.
The criminal complaint notes Bradshaw has three prior OWI convictions dating back to 1992, 1993, and 2000. If convicted of a fourth offense, he could face up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine, along with a lengthy license revocation.
Court Commissioner William Michel II set a temporary bail at $15,000. It remains unknown when Bradshaw will be medically able to attend his initial appearance.

It’s because of texting, and pieces of shit like this, that I can no longer enjoy riding my bicycle on the “Designated Bike Routes” in Kenosha county.
It especially means you can’t enjoy the usual past time of most local bicyclists-zooming through red lights and stop signs. And now that we have so many people who are too young to have a driver’s license or a real motorcycle, they are still zooming around town on what is basically just a low powered motorcycle that is still capable of speeding and running down the middle of roads as well as sidewalks.

Speeding, reckless lane changes, rolling stops, not yielding, passing on double yellows. We have more issues with people in cars than bicycles. The crazy pyscho in the grey Tesla in River Oaks is going to kill someone one day.
Possibly true, but mostly irrelevant, because there are so much more cars than bicycle on the roads that you think it would be impossible for the bicyclists to be worse. I wish I had the stats because from what I see of bicyclists and especially the electric motor Fat tire bicycle crowd, they are far worse than car drivers but no one really seems to notice cuz they don’t do as much physical damage. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a driver of a car drive through four stop signs in a row but I’ve seen endless bicycles do that particularly watching them going through downtown and all the way up to Washington Road. They don’t even see the stop signs as a suggestion for bicyclists, just something that the cars are supposed to obey. Then there’s the spandex Mafia that likes to get together on a Saturday or Sunday morning in their best European gay gear and plot along in a group of six or seven, riding three of breast and ferociously defending the law that says they have the same rights as a car while ignoring the same responsibilities of a car when they get to stop signs, yelling, “clear” to the bikes behind them as they zoom around corners on red lights or ignore four-way stops.

I’m sorry that there’s less bikes, and almost none of them have cameras. What you’re really crying about is that cars and trucks are bigger than bikes. What I’m crying about is almost ALL the bikes I see are blowing off every damn stop sign and signal.
Your OPINION is different than mine. I personally feel I see a higher percentage of drivers being shitty compared to bikers. Now maybe if you are only referring to all the bikers wearing tight spandex trying to be Lance Armstrong, you might be correct on those douches, but EVERYDAY I see MULTIPLE offenses by vehicles. I see plenty of bike riders sitting at the lights alongside cars not running them like you ALWAYS 🙄 see. What you are really crying about is I think you want to shave your legs and wear tight shorts like your biker buddies.
