KENOSHA, Wis. — A 59-year-old man was charged with felony battery to a health care worker after allegedly punching a pregnant nurse in the stomach at Aurora Hospital. Despite the seriousness of the accusation, he was never arrested—possibly due to a medical condition that left him sedated and intubated at the time of the incident.
The assault occurred on July 12 inside an ICU room at the hospital on 75th Street. The nurse, was assigned as a “sitter” to prevent the patient from falling or interfering with his medical equipment. She entered the room around 2 p.m. to relieve a coworker and informed the patient that she was pregnant and would not be able to physically assist him if he fell.
Despite several attempts to redirect him, the man reportedly got out of bed, began walking toward the door while pulling attached machines, and ignored the nurse’s verbal cues. When she stepped in front of him and placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him from falling, he allegedly shoved or punched her in the stomach with his forearm and closed fist.
The nurse immediately experienced pain and called for help. She was examined by medical staff and underwent a four-hour stress test to monitor her unborn child. While no immediate harm to the baby was detected, a follow-up appointment was scheduled as a precaution.
Police attempted to speak with the man that night but were told he could not talk due to being under sedation and having a tube down his throat.
The Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office filed charges on July 29. He has been summoned to appear in court on August 26 at 1 p.m. He would have faced up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if he were to be convicted. He is presumed innocent.

I was being sarcastic, it literally says in the above article it was amended due to the man dying.
Seems to me that half the population of Kenosha are defendent’s, another quarter run the city.
Nah. Kevin Mathewson is just doing a great job of covering local crime the way it should have been covered by the Kenosha News for the past few years. Instead, Lee Newspapers gutted the newspaper’s staff and the News is now run by a skeleton crew. Hopefully, we will soon see a KCE story on the REAL reasons Drew Burgoyne resigned from Xavier Solis’ staff instead of the fluff piece written by Kevin a little while back. KCE has slowly but surely become Kenosha’s top news source, but its blatantly obvious bias for Republicans such as Solis is preventing it from becoming the top LEGITIMATE source. For example, ever notice how Kevin identifies Democrats who commit misdeeds yet doesn’t do the same thing for Republicans?

Humorous guess, but you couldn’t be farther off. I’m just an everyday Kenosha County Eye reader who thoroughly enjoys reading the nonpolitical stories on this site, but would like to see more balanced coverage of local politics on here. If a Democrat screws up, call them out on it; if a Republican screws up, do the same. Consistency is the key to fairer and more balanced coverage; without it, a news source can’t be fully trusted and that goes for everything from this website to the Kenosha News to the New York Times.
I mean, if this guy died from whatever condition, and needed intubation & sedation, can we maybe explore the possibility that he wasn’t in his right mind when this happened? That all we’re doing here is speaking ill of the dead? What good does that do for *anyone*?!
