SILVER LAKE, Wis. — A Kenosha man was found guilty on five felony counts Tuesday following a one-day trial in a disturbing child sexual assault case involving two victims under the age of 13.
Cory D. Leavelle, 32, was convicted by a jury of the following charges: repeated sexual assault of the same child (at least three violations of first-degree sexual assault), causing a child under 13 to view or listen to sexual activity, causing a child aged 13 to 18 to view sexual activity, and two counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child. The charges stem from a series of assaults that took place during the summer of 2023 at a residence in Silver Lake, where Leavelle was living with the mother of one of the victims.
Leavelle was originally charged on May 15, 2024. His trial took place yesterday, during which the jury heard testimony from both victims, their relatives, and law enforcement officers. Leavelle declined to testify in his own defense.

The state, represented by Assistant District Attorney Timothy Martin, dismissed two of the original charges prior to trial and amended others during the proceedings. The jury deliberated for just over an hour before returning guilty verdicts on all five remaining counts. Leavelle’s bond was immediately revoked following the verdict.
According to the criminal complaint, the abuse came to light in January 2024 when one of the victims disclosed the assaults to her mother. The case was investigated by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from law enforcement in Ohio, where one of the victims resides.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 6 at 2:30 p.m. A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered.
