KENOSHA, Wis. – A 17-year-old Kenosha girl with seven felony convictions was back in court Friday, charged with physically abusing a 2-year-old boy, multiple counts of disorderly conduct, and possessing THC during a chaotic altercation with family members.
Niya L. Lanier appeared for her initial appearance, where Court Commissioner William Michel II set bail at $10,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 14.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a home in the 4000 block of 28th Avenue around 10:27 p.m. Wednesday after a woman screamed for help, saying Lanier had taken her child. Officers found the toddler on a bed, holding his arm and telling an officer “No” when asked if he was okay. His mother reported that Lanier had grabbed the boy by his arm and leg, dragging him off the bed to get a set of keys during an argument. Officers noted a fresh scratch on the child’s leg.
The dispute began when Lanier asked her sister for a key so she could leave and return to the house later. When the sister refused, Lanier allegedly ransacked their mother’s closet looking for it. The complaint states the sisters “tussled” in front of their mother, who had recently undergone back surgery. The mother told police she feared for her safety and said Lanier had not been taking her court-ordered medication, becoming aggressive and unpredictable.
Police say Lanier also fought with her sister, engaged in a second confrontation with her mother, and slammed her head repeatedly against a squad car divider while screaming after being arrested. A search allegedly turned up a THC vape pen on her.
Lanier faces charges of physical abuse of a child–intentionally causing bodily harm (repeater), three counts of disorderly conduct (two with repeater enhancers, one with a domestic abuse modifier), and possession of drug paraphernalia (repeater). She remains on probation for multiple prior felony convictions, including battery and threats to law enforcement officers.

You people’s need to stop criticizing everybody and don’t even know if some of that stuff is true get the facts first.before jumping to conclusions.
Hey Betty, do you know why your feet are so small? So you can stand closer to the sink while you wash the dishes.
3 squares will definitely help this one.
Just going by the facts written in the article.

This girl has had mental health issues since at least in middle school. I had her as a student. It’s sad that her medication was being avoided. Unfortunately, saw this coming.
I knew her also through a mutual person, she really needs to be taking her medication, and it’s sad that the court didn’t make it mandatory, where she goes in to a professional to watch her take it
You can lead horse to water but you can’t make them drink.
I was shocked to read that this girl is 17! She looks to be in her 40’s! She sure needs help!
