KENOSHA, Wis. – A 24-year-old Racine man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he repeatedly punched a friend in the face and body outside a Kenosha apartment early Sunday morning, leaving the man with severe facial injuries and possible fractures.

Seth Quinn Hoeft was in court Monday, where cash bail was set at $5,000. He is due back for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 15.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police he and Hoeft spent Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Wisconsin State Fair before returning to Kenosha and visiting Fec’s Place tavern until closing time at 2 a.m. Sunday. Hoeft drove the victim to his apartment on 35th Avenue, but an argument in the car escalated after they arrived.
The victim said Hoeft parked, got out, and confronted him in the parking lot, then began punching him in the face. Even after the victim fell to the ground, Hoeft allegedly continued the attack, striking his face and arms. The man told officers he did not fight back, focusing instead on shielding himself.
When the victim woke later that morning, he noticed significant bleeding from a laceration under his eye and went to Aurora Medical Center. Police documented severe swelling to both eyes, multiple cuts, abrasions resembling road rash on his arms, knees, and elbows, and an open wound to the right elbow approximately two inches in diameter. A physician assistant used surgical glue to close the facial laceration and suspected a fractured left orbital socket.
Hoeft was arrested later in Racine and transferred to Kenosha police custody. Officers noted swelling to his right hand and knuckles.
He is charged with substantial battery, a Class I felony, and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. If convicted on both counts, he faces up to nearly four years behind bars and fines totaling $11,000.
