Wisconsin GOP Responds to New Far-left Democrat Congressional Candidate

MADISON, Wis. — The Republican Party of Wisconsin is criticizing the newest Democratic entrant into the 1st Congressional District race, casting him as another “radical left” challenger to incumbent Congressman Bryan Steil.

In a statement, WisGOP spokesperson Anika Rickard said the new candidate, Berman, lacks credibility after the Wisconsin Elections Commission recently dismissed his complaint of felony fraud. “Just weeks after his complaint of felony fraud was rejected by the state, Berman enters the race to determine which political activist is more radically left, him or Randy Bryce,” Rickard said. “Steil is running for reelection, and he will win. Just like last cycle when Peter Barca was propped up by millions of dollars in out-of-state dark money, and Steil still won by more than 10 points.”

The state elections commission earlier this summer closed Berman’s complaint, which alleged fraud in affidavits connected to a recall petition. In its ruling, the commission wrote: “Berman has not done anything more than make a general allegation, unsupported by details or evidence, that the affidavits submitted by signatories who wished to have their signatures removed from the recall petition contained false information.”

Steil, a Republican from Janesville, has represented the 1st Congressional District since 2019. The district, which covers Kenosha, Racine and parts of southern Wisconsin, has been a longtime GOP stronghold, though Democrats have often targeted it as competitive. Former state legislator Peter Barca challenged Steil in 2022 but lost by double digits despite heavy spending by outside groups.

With Berman and Bryce both running, the Democratic field is shaping up as a contest between two candidates already known to Republican leaders.

  1. What a tool, he’s really using that as his campaign ad? LMAO
Still won’t help him get votes, dude is seriously a lunatic.

  2. I’m voting for whoever legalizes cannabis at this point. WI is 15 yrs behind the times. We need the tax revenue. Whether other Republicans understand it or not, alcohol is worse than weed. I’m sick of the GOP’s refer madness century long prohibition.

Not even a weed user or buyer.

      1. Probably should be legalized but will NOT be the tax windfall the weed folks sell you. Has done nearly nothing in other states because, and this is going to be a huge shocker to some, when that tax revenue is collected, it is spent just as fast. Total canard.

That said, it’s going to be legalized eventually and maybe descheduled entirely at the federal level this year. The time and effort to prevent it isn’t worth it anymore. My only problem with any of this is that, and this another promise the weed folks lie about (“we only want to smoke it at home!”), the smell in the cities is going to be more rampant than it already is. Go to Denver, San Diego, SF, Minneapolis, etc, they all smell like a shitbox.

Which ultimately is OK by me, I stay out of cities as much as I can anyway.

    1. Yikes…that is an extremely unintelligent point of view. Everywhere it has been legalized, it’s been a disaster socially AND economically. FIB land did it and now there is MORE ILLEGAL drug selling due to the fact the state is charging outrageous taxes on the “legal” selling.

Colorado went from being a beautiful state to a hellhole with Denver becoming a blight zone. All states that have legalized are “perplexed” that the income generated is so little yet the expenses(public vagrancy/LACK of ASSUMED income) are sky-high.

      NO TO LEGALIZING recreational use.

      21

      1. As someone who actually travels the country, the schools in legal marijuana states are not operating in a deficit, relieving property taxes for us home owners. Fentanyl is the problem, not weed. Despite what ignorant preconceptions your political tribe tells you to believe, 20% of the population is using thc, so might as well make it legal and get some benefit from it. I’m a Republican, and once was against all drugs until I tried shrooms once and realized it wasn’t evil at all, then I tried weed and it was underwhelming and less imparting than alcohol… don’t use either one anymore, but the glorification of alcohol in our State while condemnation of a plant is hypocritical. WI will come around eventually, but it seems the GOP just loves to clutch their pearls under pretense of moral superiority. Tribal politics ruins everything.

        7
        9
        1. Agree with you. Republican here as well, we need to legalize THC. So much money from WI residents is spent buying from IL (and MI). Let’s keep it in state

          6
          9
      2. When Colorado was the only legal state Dever and Boulder got a bit rough. Lots of people flocking to that state without jobs or plans. I went two years ago, it wasn’t like that at all. I don’t think weed is harmless. But the stoners I’ve known have been way less destructive than the alcoholics. I don’t like the effect weed has on me. I don’t want my kids messing with it.
I want money put into tests for impaired driving. While we’re at it, I want harsher penalties for DUI’s and I want them publicized.

      3. Don’t agree with not legalizing but you are correct, Denver is an absolute shithole downtown now.

        And the weed reeks everywhere.

    2. I’m mostly with you. I just want a good way to measure impaired driving. Everything used currently is incredibly subjective. Weed isn’t harmless by any means. However, I do agree that Alcohol is worse. It’s not an apples to apples comparison, but yeah I mostly agree. I’m sold on legalization once a way to measure impaired driving is created. It has to be possible. I’d argue it’s incredibly necessary since synthetic weed is sold in our grocery stores next to the beer.

  3. Steil is nothing but an establishment candidate who needs to be replaced with a non-establishment conservative, but Berman is a slimeball. Both he and his wife- didn’t they even play around with some voter fraud a couple of years ago? Voting where they owned a piece of property but didn’t live? Also, I’m pretty sure his wife ran for school board under those same false pretenses.

    16
    12
      1. If you’re going to skip voting because of an anonymous comment on a blog, then it’s probably better you don’t vote.

        6
        2
    1. Good luck in getting a real non-GOPe conservative to win in WI. The GOPe parlor game continues to front “new” candidates that Preach Electoral Conservative then Reach for RINO Supremacy if elected, then corner the money game to stay and grift like m-fers to fund ultra-plush luxury retirement packages while silently holding conservative-patriot voters in contempt, e.g., the fake conservative rich kid Paul Ryan with his obnoxious 1980s Alex P. Keaton persona. The GOP poseurs successfully play the emo female and beta weak male vote knowing that they, not rational men, now decide elections. The Trump 47 too-big-to-rig win was a situational exception (and blessing) due to the 2020 rig job resentment, the 4 years of social rot caused, plus the laughably absurd 2024 Democrat (communist) ticket.

      1. Precisely.

And, in WI, if you’re not willing to do some time under Robin’s desk, you’re one-term and gone.

  4. Time for the Dems to prop up another radical thinker that promotes lunacy and ideas that bring nothing of any purpose and common sense.

    9
    3
  5. As long as someone comes in and helps clean up all the pedos (and we sure have a lot of them!), they have my vote!

    10
    1. That person who will come in and clean up all the pedos needs to start with the Pedo-in-Chief, Donald J. Trump.

      9
      13
  6. SE WI is slowly turning into Lake Co IL. All the liberals that fled IL due to taxes are propping up in Kenosha Co and such and are bringing their radical idiocy views to it. Be careful not to underestimate the liberals because what seems as absolute insanity, people who believe in illegals rights over American rights, pro criminal, pro tax, pro radical ideas are gaining popularity somehow. How anyone votes for a party that literally hates the deportation of child rapists and murderers is beyond me.

    23
    13
    1. Your comment is so true! Driving in Kenosha and Kenosha county you would think you are in the state of Illinois. So many Illinois license plates and more traffic! Don’t come here and try to change Wisconsin to Illinois ways. Their governor is a fool!

      2
      1
  7. The Wisconsin Republican Party has demonstrated the ability to LOSE critical elections, and when Republicans do win they seem to simply pose for silly photo-ops and sponsor rather silly legislation.
SE Wisconsin—-Slowly but surely turning Liberal Progressive Democrat.

    9
    1
    1. We have an effective and very active county party here in Kenosha and many people working hard at the state level
too, including legislators like Nedweski. What have you done to help? Just voting and bitching is not enough!

      2
      5
    2. Agree wholeheartedly. Nedweski posted a photo on her representative page- Mr. Randall Rossi, Nedweski standing between his legs somewhat provocatively, and then the two women from Kenosha Republicans, and the three women were all dressed to look cheap and classless.

For the party that is supposed to represent family values— those “ladies” are not who I want representing *MY* family values. If I was Mr. Rossi’s wife, I would be furious that a state legislator posted a photo like that, with my husband.

Republican Party of Kenosha needs to do better. They need to stop pushing the same candidates over and over- people who aren’t working for the citizens anymore. They also need to stop trying to look like they’re in their early 20’s, and acting like silly bar girls. It’s so off-putting to those of us with ACTUAL conservative family values.

    1. No shit sherlock. And any candidate that is not a democrat is branded a racist and nazi. Thats how the parties brand eachother.

      10
      1
  8. Frankly, Steil is about as useless as a screen door in a submarine. I don’t know if he has had an original thought and he certainly lacks moral courage to be anything but a rubber stamp. Huge disappointment. Our district used to have some good congressmen.

On the other hand, the Democrats have offered similarly lightweight candidates. I’m sure this nurse is a nice enough guy but I don’t see any expertise dripping from his lips. So we stick with the devil we know.
