About 65 Cyclists Join Annual Fall Ride to Petrifying Springs

Kenosha County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas Brooks helps organize riders at the start of the county’s Fall Wheel Ride to Petrifying Springs Park, which began Saturday on the Kemper Center/Anderson Arts Center grounds.

KENOSHA, Wis. — Roughly 65 bicyclists pedaled through Kenosha on Saturday as part of County Executive Samantha Kerkman’s annual Fall Wheel Ride to Petrifying Springs.

Riders park their bikes at the Petrifying Springs Biergarten, the resting spot in the middle of the nearly 16-mile roundtrip Fall Wheel Ride that kicked off Saturday morning at the Kemper Center.

The free community event featured a nearly 16-mile roundtrip journey from Kemper Center to Petrifying Springs Park. Riders traveled entirely on off-street trails and designated bike routes, offering a safe and scenic trip to enjoy the early fall weather.

Bicyclists make their way down Highway JR, past the University of Wisconsin-Parkside campus and into Petrifying Springs Park during Kenosha County’s annual Fall Wheel Ride, held Saturday.

Kenosha County Sheriff’s deputies provided a rolling escort to ensure safety along the route, while members of the Kenosha/Racine Bike Club helped guide riders. Once at Petrifying Springs, participants were greeted at the Biergarten with complimentary refreshments before making the return trip.

The Fall Wheel Ride has become a tradition under Kerkman’s administration, bringing families, cycling enthusiasts, and casual riders together for a mix of recreation and community spirit.
